Product at Valon
Valon’s Product team is a growing, fast-paced team with a goal of building a mortgage servicing platform that both empowers mortgage servicing agents to focus on providing exceptional services and also delivers a phenomenally transparent product experience to homeowners. As a product manager at Valon, you will own a business area within the product, lead the creation and execution of the product strategy, and drive a diverse cross-functional team. Our product is at a high-growth stage and you will need to balance between scaling our MVP vs building the best-in-class feature set. You’ll be working closely with our CEO, CPO, and world-class engineering team to create a product that delivers value to mortgage servicers, mortgage lenders, and homeowners.
About the Role
Our Banking team is at the forefront of building robust, scalable, and compliant financial systems for the complex loan servicing category. Our mission is to transform how funds are moved, accounted for, and reconciled, laying the groundwork for a unified financial system that ensures critical compliance and operational efficiency.
As a product manager on the Banking team, you will play a critical role in defining and executing the product strategy and roadmap for our core financial infrastructure. You will be responsible for driving initiatives that enhance the robustness, correctness, and scalability of our systems, ultimately increasing developer velocity and enabling new products. This role requires a deep understanding of financial operations, a passion for building elegant technical solutions, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes.
Responsibilities
- Define, own, and deliver business-level objectives and product strategy for our escrow infrastructure based on a deep understanding of customer needs, the product, and industry trends.
- Productize and lead new product initiatives in our escrow business.
- Tackle challenging, complex problems that play a central role in how our ecosystem manages and disburses funds for property taxes, homeowner's insurance, and other related expenses.
- Deliver/land the right product at the right time, and all that entails.
- Synthesize quantitative data analysis with qualitative user research results to make informed product decisions.
- Apply strategic and critical thinking to identify new opportunities that will improve margin, lead to business growth and satisfy customer needs.
- Define simple, generalizable solutions to ambiguous problems and outline the solutions via clear and executable product requirements.
- Work cross-functionally with stakeholders across Business Operations Engineering, Product Design, Product Operations, Compliance, and Servicing to ideate, develop and, launch new products and features.
Ideal Background
- Senior: 5+ years of product management experience
- Staff: 8+ years of product management experience
- Experience working in Fintech, regulated products, or software platforms, launching new products from scratch
- Experience with enterprise SaaS products and preparing platforms for external customers.
- Experience shipping complex financial infrastructure products, ideally involving financial systems, accounting, reconciliation, or payment processing.
- Strong understanding of financial operations and accounting principles is highly desirable. Proven ability to define and execute product strategy for a technical platform, balancing short-term deliverables with long-term architectural vision.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems into actionable solutions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing diverse stakeholders and driving consensus.
- Experience working closely with engineering teams on technical architecture and implementation details.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

- Base Compensation Band: $178,000-$280,000. Base salary offered is determined by a number of factors including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and skills.
