As a Federal Solutions Engineer at Virtru, you will play a pivotal role in driving the adoption of our data protection solutions within the Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), and other Federal organizations. This position requires a unique blend of technical expertise and business acumen to effectively communicate complex cybersecurity concepts in accessible terms. Operating from the Washington, D.C. area, you will collaborate closely with our sales and product teams to deliver tailored solutions that meet the specific needs of our Federal clients.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Consultation: Serve as a trusted advisor to federal organizations, understanding their unique requirements and providing tailored solutions that align with their mission objectives.
- Solution Design and Demonstration: Develop and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and proof-of-value engagements to showcase the capabilities of Virtru’s Data Security Platform (DSP).
- Collaboration: Work closely with sales, product management, and engineering teams to ensure customer requirements are met and to influence product development based on market feedback.
- Proposal Development: Assist in crafting responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and other procurement documents, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with federal standards.
- Market Insight: Stay informed about federal cybersecurity mandates, policies, and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-53, CMMC, Zero Trust) to effectively guide customers.
Requirements / About You:
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in enterprise software sales engineering, specifically within the cybersecurity domain.
- Federal Sector Expertise: Proven experience in the Federal sector with a preference for DoD and IC organizations.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of Linux and Windows administration, including Exchange and SharePoint. Experience with Kubernetes is highly desirable.
- Communication Skills: Ability to distill complex technical concepts into digestible, real-world terms for diverse audiences.
- Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to align technical solutions with business objectives, showcasing both technical expertise and strategic thinking.
- Startup Experience: Background in startups or growth-stage companies, indicating adaptability and a proactive approach.
- Location: Based in the Washington, D.C. area to facilitate close collaboration with federal clients.
- Security Clearance: Active security clearance or willingness to obtain one is a plus.
- Additional Skills: Familiarity with containerization, Kubernetes (k8s), and orchestration tooling such as Helm and OpenShift.
- Collaboration: Ability to excel both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Communication: Effective communication and collaboration skills with on-site customers and support teams.
- Travel: This role will require occasional travel to customer sites in the DC area and elsewhere, and visits to Virtru HQ in downtown DC.
