POSITION OVERVIEW
The Development Director of Foundation Relations reports to the Vice President of Development and Marketing and is responsible for the coordination, research, writing, and submission of all private grant applications and grant compliance reports for private funding. The position is a revenue producing member of the development team responsible for on-going private and public resource development for the Agency.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Supports and promotes the mission of the Agency.
- Provides leadership as a key member of the development team.
- Collaborates with the Chief Development and Marketing Officer, Senior Management, Chief Financial Officer, program staff, and the Senior Grants and Foundation Relations Manager to develop funding strategies aligned with agency priorities.
- Works with the Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Management on public funding requests, including federal, state, and local opportunities, and coordinates with the Chief Strategy Officer and government grant consultant as needed for government funding proposals.
- Researches, identifies, and evaluates new private and public grant opportunities, and develops concept papers, letters of inquiry, proposal templates, and full applications in coordination with relevant staff.
- Oversees and participates in the preparation, writing, editing, and submission of grant proposals, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with program goals and funding requirements.
- Maintains regular communication with foundation and funding sources and represents the Agency in grant-related meetings, including bidder’s conferences and funder briefings.
- Coordinates with the Development Office, Accounting Department, and program staff to maintain accurate records of all grant requests and awards, including reporting deadlines and renewal opportunities.
- Generates and distributes regular reports on grant activity, funding status, and program outcomes.
- Ensures post-award compliance, including timely submission of required reports and updates on funded program activities.
- Supervises the Senior Grants and Foundation Relations Manager.
- Writes and edits a variety of development-related materials as needed, including donor letters, premier philanthropy brochures, agency brochures, newsletter articles and other special projects.
WHAT YOU BRING TO VDM?

BA or MA degree from an accredited university

5 – 7 years previous related experience

Excellent verbal and written skills.

Substantial experience as a successful grant writer.

Ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
Salary - $ 104,000 - $125,000
