The role
As a Platform Engineer, ML Ops under the Inference Optimization team,, you’ll build and own the automatic deployment pipeline which compiles and validates our AI driving models on multiple target embedded platforms. This role occupies a critical junction between machine learning and embedded systems, enabling us to deploy our driving models easily onto fleets of autonomous vehicles. This an exciting opportunity to lead in a high impact, early stage project at Wayve which directly contributes to our goal of deploying our models onto millions of customer vehicles around the world.
Key responsibilities:
- You’ll build and own the CI/CD model deployment pipeline which compiles and optimizes our AI models for various embedded targeted platforms
- You’ll work closely with model developers, compiler engineers and GPU kernel engineers to automate the compilation process and integrate it into our standard model deployment process
- As a hands-on tech lead, you’ll plan out roadmap milestones and execute against them
- Over the first 6-12 months you’ll identify key roles and skillsets to further grow this team, to achieve business and commercial milestones
- You’ll have opportunities to develop new skills, especially in model optimization and deployment
About you
In order to set you up for success as a Platform Engineer, ML Ops, we’re looking for the following skills and experience.
Essential:
- Over 8 years experience in Site Reliability Engineering or a similar role, especially in a production environment.
- Experience as a hands-on technical leader or senior engineer on projects involving deployment pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD, Docker, Buildkite, or related frameworks
- Proficiency in Python, C++
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented mindset, coupled with outstanding communication abilities.
Desirable:
- Experience with ML compilation pipelines (PyTorch, ONNX, TensorRT, etc) is a bonus but not required
This is a full-time role based in our office in Sunnyvale.
