Position Summary: The Operational Excellence Manager will lead a small team focused on driving process improvement across the organization. This role is highly project-based, with 50–75% of time dedicated to executing short-cycle improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and can quickly diagnose, document, redesign operational processes and track improvements post implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor small team of Process Analysts
- Manage and execute operational improvement projects in sprints
- Facilitate workshops, process mapping sessions, and stakeholder interviews to gather insights and drive alignment
- Map and analyze the end-to-end journey to identify friction points and opportunities for enhancement.
- Leverage data analysis and metrics to measure process performance and outcomes.
- Develop process maps, documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with technology teams to recommend or implement automation and system improvements.
- Design and implement optimized processes that balance efficiency, compliance, and client satisfaction.
- Lead training and change management efforts to ensure team adoption of new processes.
- Report on value realization post process improvement implementation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Previous managerial experience
- 5+ years of experience in process analysis, business analysis, or operations improvement (law firm or professional services experience a plus).
- Proven experience managing short-cycle projects with measurable outcomes.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to gather, interpret, and present data.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in process mapping tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Blueworks Live etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt or higher)
- Hands on experience applying either PDCA, Lean, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping in driving measurable results.
- Project/Program Management certification is a plus
- MBA is a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Office environment with normal business hours necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions.
- Stationary Position – Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.
- Move or Traverse – This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, meeting rooms, office machinery, etc. May occasionally ascends/descends the stairs to get to other floors, cafeteria and parking area.
- Dexterity – constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine/printer.
- Move, Transport, Position, Put, Install, Remove - Occasionally moves supplies weighing up to 10 pounds for various presentation and event needs.
- Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information - The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, Assess - The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
