Write your story with Zip

We’re looking for a passionate Product Designer to join our Card Spend squad. You’ll play a key role in shaping the customer experience for our cards product, which is the foundation for how our customers spend with Zip. Come join us on our mission to make Zip cards the go-to for every card purchase!

By crafting a delightful spend experience for our customers, you’ll be a key contributor to building our spending product. Together with the Product Manager and Engineering Manager, you’ll work as a triad with the squad’s engineers to drive the product’s growth.

Reporting to a Lead Product Designer, you’ll join the Product Design function in which you’ll collaborate with other Product Designers and contribute to the development of our design practice.

You'll also:

  • Design exceptional experiences and flows for our customers that are simple, elegant and delightful
  • Partner with Product Management and Engineering, working in a triad to design experiences that solve a customer problem, are technically feasible and deliver on business objectives
  • Utilise design thinking to go from problem definition to high-quality solutions
  • Go broad in ideation, narrow down the options and form an opinion that you can confidently argue for
  • Use data and research - both quantitative and qualitative - to identify opportunities and problems, make decisions and inform trade-offs
  • Regularly design, run and learn from experiments and continuously measure the success of your work using the right metrics
  • Champion our value of Customer First by being an advocate for, and voice of, our customer
  • Design broader end-to-end experiences  that you break down into increments to ship
  • Contribute to the development of the Card Spend roadmap and longer-term product strategy
  • Contribute to the growth of our Design practice through knowledge sharing, regularly giving structured feedback to your peers and working on Design Ops initiatives
  • Contribute to the uplift of our design system

What you’ll bring to the team

Zipsters work on a broad range of initiatives, and our skills and experiences all look a little different. What really matters to us is that you’re a great fit with our four Values, and have a desire to learn and grow.

  • 3+ years working in product design
  • Well-rounded experience across Product, UX, UI and interaction design
  • A portfolio that demonstrates app design projects that showcase:
    • The ability to drive strong business outcomes
    • Passion for design thinking methods and a deep understanding of design practices
    • Attention to detail and a strong visual sensibility & interaction design
    • Designs of end-to-end solutions that scale
  • A curiosity for uncovering the true ‘why’ of a problem
  • Experience working cross-functional teams, including Product Management and Engineering, with an ability to influence outcomes, advocate for design choices and challenge ideas
  • An ability to quickly and autonomously prioritise work
  • Excellent communications skills. You are accomplished at conveying complex concepts clearly and persuasively to a variety of audiences, both verbally and in writing
  • Experience utilising existing data to form hypotheses and design experiments
  • Experience conducting evaluative research and synthesising results into actionable insights
  • A quality mindset that gets the right balance between speed and quality
  • The ability to respectfully challenge ideas and assumptions
  • Passion and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced team
  • Experience working with and contributing to design systems
  • A mindset that embraces AI and new tools to adapt, learn and grow.
