What You Will Do

 

  • Architect and implement telemetry events using Apache Kafka, Kafka Connect, and Kafka Streams.

  • Build high-performance telemetry pipelines capable of ingesting millions of game events per second.

  • Develop and maintain edge collectors and SDK integrations for telemetry from game clients (Unity, Unreal). Knowledge of Golang and Java.

  • Integrate with downstream systems like S3, Databricks, and Snowflake for real-time and batch processing.

  • Define schemas and evolve event contracts using Avro/Protobuf with Schema Registry.

  • Monitor and tune performance for ingestion services and Kafka brokers (batching, compression, partitioning).

  • Implement robust data validation, dead-letter queues, and replay mechanisms for data quality and recovery.

  • Collaborate on cost optimization strategies (e.g., tiered storage, compaction, cloud-native deployment).

What you bring

  • 5 years+ Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka (brokers, producers/consumers, partitions).

  • Knowledge of Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, and Kafka Streams/Flink/Spark Streaming.

  • Proven experience designing distributed, fault-tolerant ingestion systems.

  • Deep understanding of message ordering, delivery guarantees, and backpressure handling.

  • Experience with multi-region architecture, auto-scaling, and cloud-native deployment (e.g., MSK, Confluent Cloud).

  • Strong grasp of VPC design, NAT gateways, ENIs, and cross-AZ Kafka setups.

  • Hands-on experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes/ECS) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).

  • Proficient in data serialization formats (Avro, Protobuf, JSON).

  • CI/CD pipeline design using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or ArgoCD.

  • Experience deploying to AWS, including usage of S3, EC2, and Lambda.

 

Bonus items

  • A passion for working in games

  • Experience with game telemetry pipelines in AAA or mobile game studios.

  • Experience with Game Telemetry Standardization and Data Contracts

  • Familiarity with Snowflake, Delta Lake, Iceberg, and analytics stack integration.

  • Knowledge of game client-side logging patterns and session instrumentation.
