THE ROLE

Reporting to the President, International, this role will lead the execution and optimization of the International E-Commerce (EU & APAC) business for AG1 while shaping its long-term strategy. The ideal candidate is a strategic operator—someone who thrives in both setting direction and rolling up their sleeves to drive day-to-day improvements. They will be the commercial and operational lead partnering with global and regional teams across DIT, Product Marketing, Growth Marketing, Retention, Paid Media, Supply Chain, and Finance. This new role would include dotted-line leadership of a dedicated DIT engineering team and work alongside our VP, Growth & Operational Engineering, and CTO. Initially, this role will lead a lean team across merchandising, CRO, and retention and collaborate cross-functionally. As they drive measurable improvements in conversion rates, retention, subscriber growth, and revenue efficiency, they will be responsible for building out their team with approved budget to expand capabilities in CRO and lifecycle marketing. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Strategic Planning and Development:

  • E-commerce Strategy: Develop and implement the e-commerce strategy for the International market, aligning it with global business objectives, local market dynamics, and market expansion ambitions.
  • Market Expansion: Project-own and lead the game plan for growing into key identified markets, partnering with go-to-market, finance, supply chain and other functions in ensuring project readiness to support our expansion plans.
  • Revenue Growth: Define and execute initiatives to consistently grow online sales, conversion rates, new customer acquisition, and customer lifetime value.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Team Management: Lead and develop digital teams across operational and commercial populations (e.g. Digital & IT teams, Merchandising, Conversion Rate Optimisation, Retention, Paid Media, Customer Happiness) to achieve e-commerce goals.
  • Performance Management: Set clear performance goals for all team members and ensure accountability for meeting targets.
  • Talent Development: Identify skill gaps and provide training or hire new talent to build a high-performing e-commerce team.

Operational Management:

  • Digital Engineering & IT: Partner with the global Digital Product engineering & IT leadership to ensure we are maximising global product standardisation whilst agreeing and resourcing the biggest regional product and technology objectives. 
  • Website and User Experience: Oversee the design, functionality, and optimization of the e-commerce platform(s), ensuring a seamless and high-converting user experience across all devices. 
  • Supply Chain & Fulfilment: Coordinate with logistics and supply chain teams to ensure timely and cost efficient order fulfilment across the region.
  • Customer Happiness: Collaborate with CH teams to ensure excellent post-purchase experience and promptly resolve issues related to refunds and customer satisfaction.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • KPI Tracking: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for e-commerce performance, including new customers, customer lifetime value (CLV), traffic, conversion rates, dwell time, subscription rate, retention rate, and member experience. 
  • Analytics: Use data analytics tools to monitor and assess the performance of e-commerce channels, making data-driven decisions to optimize the business.

Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams:

  • Growth Marketing Integration: Work closely with growth marketing teams to align business objectives, seasonal sales campaigns and product launches.
  • Finance: Partner with the finance team to develop budget forecasts and financial reporting. 

Compliance & Legal Oversight

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the e-commerce platform adheres to legal requirements, including data protection (GDPR), e-commerce regulations, and consumer rights.
  • Payment Systems: Design the roadmap and implement secure payment solutions that comply with EU regulations, improve conversion, and offer a seamless checkout experience.

3rd Party Partnership

  • Retail: Manage relationships with external vendors, including payment providers, logistics partners, and technology providers.
  • Partners: Negotiate contracts, service level agreements (SLAs), and terms with vendors to ensure competitive pricing and service levels.

Budgeting and Financial Oversight

  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the budget for e-commerce operations, including marketing spend, technology investments, and team resources.
  • Profitability: Monitor costs and margins, identifying opportunities to increase profitability through operational efficiencies or strategic initiatives.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Digital Commerce, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in consumer product/DTC e-commerce, digital marketing, or consumer technology, with a track record of scaling online international businesses.
  • This role is based in Ireland, with the potential to support relocation for the right candidate.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams in a fast-paced environment. A proven track record of success in building and scaling online businesses. A proactive approach to identifying and resolving challenges, coupled with strong decision-making skills.
  • E-commerce Knowledge: Deep understanding of e-commerce platforms, digital marketing techniques, analytics tools, conversion optimization, and retention strategies.
  • Multinational Experience: Experience in managing e-commerce operations across multiple countries, understanding local market nuances, languages, and cultures.
  • Financial Acumen: Commercial leader who has owned budget and P&Ls in prior roles and has an ambitious growth mindset. 
  • Data-Driven: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in using analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Tableau, Klaviyo, Salesforce, Shopify Plus, LINE and NetSuite. etc.).

AG1 is dedicated to providing equitable and competitive compensation & benefits packages. For this particular role, the base salary range is €139,500 - €202,500 and will ultimately be decided at the offer stage, based on an individual candidate’s level of skills and experience aligned with the needs of this role. Base salary is one component of total compensation for this position. We provide a competitive mix of base salary, performance bonus, and stock option allocation for eligible roles.
