This position is hybrid (3 days per week in office) and is located in Austin, Texas.

About the role

The Manager, Accounting will play an integral role to ensure that Auctane’s financial information is complete, accurate, and appropriately facilitates decision-making. The role will be responsible for ensuring financial information is maintained in a way that facilitates smooth reviews and audit processes to meet various internal and/or regulatory requirements such as GAAP, SEC, and Sarbanes-Oxley. The Manager, Accounting will manage and develop junior team members and/or third-party resources; maintain detailed review of reconciliations, establishment and management of processes, preparation of reports, along with other general accounting and reporting functions as required. This role will report to a Director, Accounting.

This is a compelling opportunity to assume manager-level accounting responsibilities in a wide range of areas and gain valuable experience with a Company in the Internet space that was acquired by private equity firm Thoma Bravo for $6.6 billion in 2021.

About the Team

Auctane’s Finance & Accounting team is responsible for reporting accurate financial reporting to the public and investors, as well as driving strategic and financial decision-making processes across the Company. We partner with Senior Management and business unit leaders to analyze and drive long-term business performance.

What will you be doing?

  • Ensure accounting records are accurate and complete on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Streamline, develop, and optimize close processes, reporting requirements, and general ledger setup.
  • Manage and/or execute recurring accounting processes.
  • Review work performed by other accountants/accounting teams and manage the timeliness of month-end close. May perform work of those they supervise.
  • Work closely with various departments to gather and analyze data used for the preparation of journal entries.
  • Monitor and address treasury needs (e.g. bank balances, bill payments, etc.).
  • Train, develop, and mentor team members and/or third-party resources.
  • Analyze account balances at month-end and facilitate communication to management and other accounting team members, as necessary, and ensure resolution of issues.
  • Ensure accounting policies and activities across different entities/brands align with corporate policies where appropriate.
  • Prepare internal, external, and regulatory reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, or as required
    • Compile analysis/reports for the quarterly reviews, annual audits, or other requirements.
    • Prepare reports for executive leadership to help make business decisions.
  • Facilitate successful external review and audit processes to meet various regulatory requirements (e.g. GAAP, SEC, SOX, Lender Reporting).
    • Establish and coordinate the implementation of accounting and internal control procedures in accordance with applicable requirements.
    • Maintain records in accordance with Company’s internal controls and US GAAP and assemble documentation requested by auditors and other parties.
    • Communicate effectively with Company’s auditors and other parties as necessary.
    • Ensure that internal controls over financial reporting are adequately designed, implemented, and operating effectively.
  • Manage staff and senior accounting team members and third-party resources, and direct supervision of administrative accounting staff
    • Review work submitted by staff and senior accountants and manage accounting close processes.
    • Coordinate and lead daily, monthly, and quarterly team activities
  • Special projects and other related duties as assigned.
  • Position may work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed (for example, should they occur during monthly and/or quarterly reporting cycles). 

What are we looking for?

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
    • CPA certification.
    • 8+ years relevant finance and/or accounting experience post bachelor’s degree.
    • 5+ years of experience in public accounting preferred.
    • E-commerce, SaaS, or technology industry experience is a plus.

    • Knowledge of US GAAP, financial statements, and internal controls.
    • Familiarity with SEC reporting requirements is a plus.

The Tech

    • Intermediate proficiency in Excel (e.g. vlookups, pivot tables).
    • Experience with enterprise accounting software (e.g. NetSuite) a plus.
    • Basic SQL, Google BigQuery, or other data analytics expertise is a plus.
