Work Mode: Hybrid - Please Note: This is a Utah-based hybrid position which will require some regular in-office days each week. Additionally, employment with BambooHR is contingent on passing both a background and credit check. 

Essential Job Duties

We’re looking for an exceptional Expansion Sales Director to accelerate our growth and scale our sales efforts within the Small & Medium Business (SMB) market. As part of a fast-growing organization, you’ll drive new revenue, optimize processes, and inspire a team to achieve outstanding results while collaborating closely with cross functional teams throughout the organization.

You will:

  • Lead Expansion Sales: Own and optimize the expansion sales strategy, driving growth through the SMB market by creating and executing a strategic plan that aligns with BambooHR’s go-to-market approach.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, develop, and inspire a team of Sales Managers and their Expansion Account Executives, ensuring they meet and exceed sales goals. Lead by example, providing guidance, mentoring, and coaching to drive performance and career development.
  • Collaboration & Execution: Work cross-functionally with Finance, Marketing, and Operations to align sales forecasting, pipeline management, and revenue goals. Develop effective sales plans that ensure continued success across the team.
  • Sales Performance: Monitor and analyze performance metrics to identify opportunities for growth, support large deals, and empower Sales Managers to replicate successful behaviors across their teams.
  • Hiring & Growth: Collaborate with HR to plan and build a high-performing sales team, managing headcount and ensuring the right capacity for future growth.
  • Sales Innovation & Support: Participate in product launches, go-to-market strategies, and other initiatives that directly influence sales outcomes. Help shape sales collateral and support your team with resources needed to close deals effectively.
  • Culture & Motivation: Own and cultivate the team culture, focusing on high morale, collaboration, and development. Actively manage attrition, performance improvements, and HR escalations.
  • Accountability: Drive accountability for achieving sales performance goals, holding both managers and team members to high standards. Share insights with the executive team to ensure alignment and proactive problem-solving.

What You Need to Get the Job Done

  • Proven Experience: 5-7+ years as a sales leader in the SMB SaaS space, with a track record of success in driving expansion sales, growing pipeline, and leading high-performing teams.
  • Team-Building Expertise: Demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and coach sales teams, creating a positive, accountable environment that drives results.
  • Salesforce Expertise: Strong experience with Salesforce and sales operations, using data to inform strategy and measure success.
  • Strategic Vision: Ability to create a vision for growth, and execute on that vision by influencing and collaborating across multiple teams.
  • Execution Focus: Highly driven with a strong sense of urgency and a results-oriented mindset. You believe in BambooHR’s mission and go beyond traditional relationship management to drive success.
  • Solution Selling Expertise: Expertise in solution-selling methodologies and a proven track record of success within the SMB SaaS market.
