Essential Job Duties
We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to own the design strategy and execution for our Access & Permissions system—a critical part of how BambooHR and our customers ensure their data stays secure. This role is perfect for a designer who loves diving into complex systems, thrives on cross-functional collaboration, and has a passion for creating intuitive, powerful tools that balance simplicity and flexibility.
You’ll partner closely with Product and Engineering to shape how permissions are managed across our product, helping companies define who can see and do what—with clarity, confidence, and control.
If you’re someone intrigued and excited by the possibilities of AI and look for ways to implement it to various aspects of your work, BambooHR might just be the perfect place for you. At BambooHR, we’re all in on AI and we’re looking to push the boundaries of how AI can enhance our work, and we’re looking for someone who’s just as enthusiastic about it as we are. Come along this journey with us!
You will:
As a Senior Product Designer (Senior UX Designer) at BambooHR, you’ll design intuitive, thoughtful solutions that empower admins, protect sensitive information, and support the flexibility needed by modern HR teams. You’ll bring strong product thinking, top-tier craft, and user advocacy to a space where usability meets security.
- Own the end-to-end design of features within the Access & Permissions space—from early concepts to high-fidelity implementation.
- Collaborate with PMs and engineers to shape strategy, contribute to roadmap discussions, and solve tough UX problems.
- Define, test, and iterate on user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and detailed interaction patterns that simplify complexity.
- Conduct and participate in user research (contextual inquiry, usability testing, competitive analysis) to inform and validate design decisions.
- Craft beautiful, accessible experiences that adhere to our design standards and contribute to our design system.
- Work closely with dev teams to ensure high-quality implementation.
What You Need to Get the Job Done
This is a strategic and hands-on role that requires critical thinking, design leadership, and strong collaboration. You’ll need to balance systems thinking with a deep empathy for users navigating complex workflows.
- Has 6+ years of UX/product design experience with complex SaaS applications—especially in admin tools, security settings, or enterprise software.
- Has a proven track record of designing successful software products from the ground up—owning discovery, design, launch, and iteration.
- Brings a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in user research, information architecture, interaction design, and high-quality visual design.
- Can demonstrate deep thinking around permissions models, roles, access hierarchies, or similar systems (a strong plus).
You should be confident and ready to talk about:
- How you approach complex problem spaces and structure ambiguity into actionable design.
- Your experience leading cross-functional collaboration with PMs, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- How you keep projects moving forward—even when roadblocks pop up.
- Your ability to synthesize research insights and translate them into product decisions.
- How you manage competing priorities and multiple initiatives with clarity and focus.
- How you self-direct your time, priorities, and productivity without constant oversight.
