Lead DevOps Engineer

As a Staff/Lead DevOps Software Engineer in Black Duck, you will be part of our DevOps strategy and practices. You will work closely with engineering, product, and operations teams to optimize our development pipeline, implement automation, and ensure high availability and scalability of our systems. This role is key in creating robust, secure, and automated cloud infrastructure that supports the company’s rapid growth and evolving product needs. 

 

Required Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 6 – 8 years of experience in DevOps Engineering.
  • Cloud Platforms: In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms including GCP (Preferred), AWS, and Azure focused on optimizing cost, security, and performance.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Deep experience with IaC tools such as Terraform (Preferred), CloudFormation, with the ability to manage complex infrastructure setups.
  • CI/CD & GitOps: Proficient in designing CI/CD pipeline tools such as Jenkins, ArgoCD, Harness.io, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions and GitOps workflows for automated deployments.
  • Scripting & Automation: Strong scripting skills in languages such as Bash, Python, Go, with experience in automating system tasks and processes.
  • Containers & Orchestration: Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes (K8s), including Helm and other K8s management tools.
  • Monitoring & Logging: Hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, and observability solutions (e.g., New Relic, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
  • Security Best Practices: Expertise in implementing security controls, including IAM, RBAC, VPNs, mTLS, and Zero Trust architecture.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in implementing backup and recovery, including disaster recovery (DR) planning.
  • Good to have
    • Certifications: CKAD, CKS, and/or CKA
    • Configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet.
    • Event-driven architectures using RabbitMQ, Kafka, Pub/Sub, and Amazon SQS

 Bangalore - Hybrid mode (Near Dairy Circle)

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure Automation: Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, to automate provisioning, scaling, and management of cloud environments.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Management: Design, Develop and optimization of CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, or Harness.io to ensure efficient, reliable, and scalable software delivery.
  • Cloud Architecture: Architect, deploy, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure (with a preference for GCP).
  • Monitoring & Observability: Implement and manage monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog, and New Relic, ensuring high system uptime and performance.
  • Orchestration: Manage and maintain containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes (K8s), leveraging Helm and other Kubernetes management tools for deployment and orchestration.
  • Security & Compliance: Drive security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), network security, encryption, vulnerability management, and compliance requirements such as SOC2, GDPR, or HIPAA.
  • Incident Management: Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of system failures or outages, ensuring timely communication and root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Mentor and lead junior DevOps engineers, sharing knowledge and improving team practices. Collaborate cross-functionally with developers, product managers, and system administrators.
  • Optimization & Cost Efficiency: Continuously analyse cloud and infrastructure performance to recommend and implement cost-saving strategies, improve system performance, and optimize resources.
