In this role:
As a Security and Compliance Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting and enhancing the security posture and compliance readiness of cloud-based services hosted in Azure and Power Platform. You’ll conduct detailed security assessments, drive risk remediation activities, and collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure adherence to compliance frameworks. This position offers high visibility, cross-team collaboration opportunities, and the chance to make a significant impact on secure cloud service delivery through automation, data analysis, and strategic risk management.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct in-depth security and risk assessments for services deployed on Azure and Power Platform.

Document identified risks in the Risk Register, ensuring proper linkage to remediation actions.

Partner with engineering teams to track and verify risk mitigation activities until closure.

Provide hands-on remediation support and technical guidance during dedicated office hours.

Standardize and document remediation steps to build reusable guidance for future scenarios.

Analyze security and compliance datasets using Azure Data Explorer (Kusto) to extract insights and assess risk impact.

Automate and streamline compliance validation, risk tracking, and remediation workflows.

Support and actively contribute to ongoing security and compliance campaigns in alignment with broader organizational priorities.

Manage work assignments using Azure DevOps, maintaining clear documentation and timely updates.
Required Qualifications:

Certification: CISSP or equivalent (e.g., SANS GIAC certifications) – mandatory.

Cloud Security: Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience with Azure, including deep understanding of its security architecture and services.

Security Assessments: Minimum 3+ years of experience in performing security assessments, threat modeling, and risk analysis.

Risk Management: Minimum 1+ year of experience in risk management with working knowledge of NIST CSF v2 or equivalent control frameworks.

Web Security: Strong understanding of web application security principles, threat vectors, and mitigation strategies.

Compliance Support: Demonstrated experience supporting security and compliance initiatives across multiple teams.

Data Analysis: Proficiency in using Azure Data Explorer (Kusto) to analyze telemetry data.

Automation: Experience with scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Azure Logic Apps, or CI/CD integration.

Soft Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and analytical abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with secure code reviews and use of static/dynamic analysis tools.

Hands-on experience securing Power Platform components, including Canvas Apps and Dataverse.

Familiarity with compliance automation platforms (e.g., Azure Policy, Microsoft Purview).

Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively and manage stakeholder relationships with professionalism and a proactive mindset.
Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field OR 5–7 years of relevant industry experience in security engineering, compliance, or cloud risk management.
Salary Range
Pay ranges vary based on multiple factors including, without limitation, skill sets, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographical market. The pay range for this position reflects geographic based ranges for Washington state: $107,000 to $117,000 USD/annually. The salary/wage and job title for this opening will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience and may be outside this range.
