Background

Founded in London in 1987, Brunswick’s global partnership has grown organically to 27 offices in 19 countries. Our Chairman is Sir Alan Parker, based in London, and our CEO is Henry Tims, based in New York City.

Brunswick in Japan

Brunswick has been advising on Japan-related issues for over a decade and today has a team of Japan specialists which spans Asia, Europe and the Americas. The firm helps many of Japan’s leading businesses to navigate critical situations such as crisis, M&A, activist campaigns, restructuring and litigation, bringing a multi-stakeholder approach to engage effectively with institutional investors, regulators, the media, employees, shareholder activists, NGOs and other key audiences. Brunswick also helps many multi-national corporates to engage effectively in high-stakes situations with key audiences and stakeholders in Japan.

Brunswick formally opened its Tokyo office in 2020. Today, we have around 12 multi-lingual consultants in Tokyo from diverse backgrounds. This team works with Japan specialists in overseas markets (New York, Washington D.C., London and Singapore) as well as our team of global experts to provide seamless, around-the-clock advice and support for clients in critical situations.

At a time when Japan’s role and influence in global markets and geopolitics is growing and evolving, and as global investors and businesses become re-energised around the opportunities in Japan, Brunswick serves as a bridge to enable Japanese companies to be successful outside the home market as well as global companies to successfully navigate in Japan.

The Opportunity

The Executive Assistant position at Brunswick Group requires a highly organized, proactive and collaborative individual. In this role, you will provide excellent administrative support to our Partners, Directors and support with internal projects.

You will work closely with our regional business services teams (ie. Finance, HR, ICT etc.) to support office administration tasks and internal processes.

You will also be a people-connector and positive culture carrier for the Tokyo office, who feels motivated to engage with colleagues and build a strong sense of belonging for our team.

Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide full-scale administrative support to Partners, including but not limited to: managing complex calendars, organizing expense and timesheet submissions, and providing strategic support to increase productivity for your charges.
  • Build trusted relationships and proactively understand your charges’ workload, schedules and key stakeholders, in order to anticipate and solve potential challenges.
  • Collaborate with other colleagues to support a range of office administrative duties, such as travel bookings, ICT equipment, stationary and refreshment orders, documents preparation and binding, organizing office events and other ad-hoc assignments.
  • Organize travel and meeting itineraries for Partners, and senior leadership visits from other overseas offices (eg. APAC, UK, Europe, US offices)
  • Respond to email and requests efficiently - ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize and manage deadlines and expectations timely.
  • Provide coverage for other administrative team members during annual leave or medical leave.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

  • Exceptional research, writing and communication skills
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills both in Japanese and English
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize with astute attention to detail
  • Demonstrate curiosity and awareness of current and relevant global issues
  • Experienced using Microsoft Office products
  • A good sense of humour
