Junior UX/UI Designer

London, England, United Kingdom

The Opportunity

Brunswick is a special kind of advisory firm. We advise the world’s leading companies on how to navigate the critical issues they face and engage with their most important stakeholders.

As a Junior User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) Designer you will have the opportunity to work with some of the world’s largest companies, helping them solve their biggest problems.

We pride ourselves in delivering high calibre design work, so you will get the opportunity to collaborate with a wide variety of people across the firm and across our global client base. Importantly, you’ll be able to hone your UX and UI skills to a high professional level – whether these skills are steeped in every aspect of UX research and strategy, or all the way to working with our tech team to bring your design vision to life. You’ll also have an award-winning Digital Creative Director to support and guide you, and help take your skills to the next level. The ambition will be for you to be running your own UX or UI projects within a year.

If you’re an ambitious self-starter, this job is definitely for you.

Our work within Digital

In today’s world, the role of digital is central to helping our clients navigate critical issues that materially affect their business – from attracting the best talent or evidencing their sustainability credentials, to effectively telling their corporate story and showcasing performance successes.

Within our digital capability we have a team of strategic advisors who help our clients understand challenging situations and make clear and confident decisions to resolve them. We also have an audience and amplification team who gather deep insight into our clients’ core audiences and how best to reach and engage them.

This role is specifically within the Design and Technology team, which exists to support our clients with websites and digital products that help them be more successful at their critical moments. You will be a part of our award-winning, full-service in-house team of planners, creatives and tech delivery specialists. Our team also links with a wider creative team, whose remit includes annual reporting, branded campaigns and film & live broadcast work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct competitor and lateral research to guide design decisions.
  • Support on discovery and workshop sessions and preparing materials.
  • Analyze and learn from data and user research to inform design choices.
  • Create wireframes and sitemaps websites.
  • Design UI interfaces, which push both visual creativity and follow a best practice approach.
  • Create and maintain design documentation; style guides and design systems.
  • Create and curate content assets such as icons, photography, illustrations and implement brand graphics.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to ongoing campaign projects.
  • Work alongside cross-functional teams, willing to learn and collaborate and be a source of energy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

We’re looking for a thoughtful, creative and ambitious Junior UX/UI designer with anything between one to three years agency experience.

If most of these criteria fit you, we’d love a chat:

  • Collaborative: At the core of our culture, we are a relationship-based business. We want someone who thrives whilst working with others; both in-person and virtual. To interplay well within the immediate Design & Technology team and across the wider firm as well. To seize the opportunity to build your own profile as a UX and UI specialist and become a sought-after expert in the organization.
  • Design – A problem solving creative, with a portfolio demonstrating key UX deliverables; from gathering research and insights, to generating user stories, sitemaps and wireframes etc. Strong experience in UI design where you would have brought some design work to life, supporting a senior/lead designer or created a visual concept/prototype. A strong eye for typography, layout and hierarchy is essential; with an interest in trends and digital design culture.
  • Tools - We use Figma to design and Jira and Confluence to manage, so you’ll need to have experience of using these too. We have recently onboarded Webflow as a site building platform, so any experience in this would be a plus.
  • Communication – Have excellent communicate skills, to clearly explain your thought process, confidence to raise issues in team stand-ups and use company channels (email, chat and arranging meetings) to drive projects forward.
  • Attention to detail – We’re looking for a naturally organized individual, that is methodical in their process to delivering work, ensuring details are captured when given feedback.
  • Natural Curiosity – Someone who is keen to learn and to soak up all the knowledge and experience across our firm. A curious, inquisitive mind will go a very long way.

Our Benefits

In addition to life assurance, group income protection, and employer pension contribution, we offer:

  • Annual discretionary bonus
  • 25 days’ annual leave, excluding bank holidays (plus your Birthday off)
