Join our survey team and put your technical skills to work across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects. As a Survey Technician, you'll work under the direction of a licensed Professional Surveyor gaining hands-on experience with modern equipment and technology while contributing to meaningful deliverables from field to finish.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform field and/or office survey work under the direction of a Professional Surveyor, including boundary, easement, right-of-way, route and topographic surveys
  • Conduct deed research across various jurisdictions and assist in the preparation of legal descriptions and right-of-way plans
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot GPS and digital survey equipment and software
  • Work with drones and LiDAR technologies with potential for future drone pilot certification 
  • Prepare field notes and sketches and read and interpret road, bridge, and utility plans, deeds, and survey plats
  • Utilize CAD programs to process field survey data and develop existing manuscript files
  • Submit utility locate requests and coordinate with utility owners
  • Communicate regularly with designers and state and local agencies

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying, Survey Engineering, or related field from an ABET-accredited program (or a program otherwise approved by the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors)
  • Land Surveyor In Training (LSIT) registration or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, willingness to pursue future PLS licensure desired
  • Experience with operating CAD and survey software a plus; MS Office Suite
  • Willingness to travel as necessary
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Adaptable and self-motivated with a proactive mindset as well as a proactive approach to problem solving
