What you’ll be doing
We’re looking for an Accounts Assistant. This key role has come about to due the growth of Cleo and will be part of a finance team that will continue to evolve over the coming years as Cleo expands and comes with opportunities to develop and be exposed to other areas of the wider finance team in the future.
We’re building a world-class, data-driven and tech-focused Finance team. You will be very much hands on and responsible for transactional processes, control of supplier and card payment processes and controls as well as key aspects of month and year end. Strong attention to detail with good analytical skills will be key for success in the role.
The Accounts Assistant is expected to collaborate with colleagues across the wider Finance department, Commercial, Product & support teams to drive forward enhancements to our financial capabilities, reporting and decision making.
Some of the things you'll get involved with:
What you’ll be doing day to day
- Accounts payable:
- Posting of supplier invoices and transactions
- Reconciling our banks on Xero and responsible for posting bank transactions
- Preparation of payment run files for review and uploading payments to the bank
- Liaising with suppliers and teams across the business
- Responsible for our invoice approval system / process and continuing to develop this as we scale
- Organising filing of all accounts payable information
- Proactively dealing with queries
- Card expenses:
- Control of all virtual company card expenditure and postings
- Month end reconciliations
- Looking for new incentives to streamline processes
- Other support:
- Being one of the first points of contact for Finance
- Assisting with budgeting and cashflow
- Work on 3rd party reconciliations
- Dealing with the finance email account and answering queries in a timely and friendly manner
- Other ad hoc projects including supporting the team with year-end audit, fundraising rounds and maintaining robust controls and processes
What are we looking for?
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
- You’re hardworking, reliable and well organised
- You have experience working for a start-up/scale-up, or have clear rationale for why you’re excited to have an impact in one
- You’re proactive - you can't see a big problem without wanting to solve it
- Basic/Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets skills (would consider someone with basic functionality for sums and functions etc.)
- Attention to detail with self-reviews is a must to ensure the accuracy of work.
- You're an approachable, friendly, sociable person who works well in a team environment and enjoys communicating with people across the company including Exec members.
- Previous experience with Xero would be preferred
