Plumber / Pipefitter

Copper River Technologies is seeking an experienced Plumber / Pipefitter to join our team supporting the installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of plumbing and utility systems in Crane, IN. This is a hands-on journeyman-level position working across a variety of facilities and systems, including water, gas, sewage, and other utility services.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Install, modify, maintain, and repair water, gas, sewage, and utility systems.
  • Install and repair plumbing fixtures and equipment, including toilets, tubs, showers, water heaters, valves, traps, and unions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, building plans, work orders, and sketches.
  • Plan and lay out piping routes, openings, slopes, elevations, and equipment locations.
  • Locate and tap mainlines and install piping, hangers, valves, fittings, and related components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair leaks, blockages, and other plumbing system issues.
  • Estimate labor, materials, and equipment needed to complete service work.
  • Select the appropriate tools, materials, and techniques to safely and efficiently complete assigned work.
  • Use plumbing tools and equipment such as augers, hydrostatic pumps, gauges, plumb bobs, dividers, and other trade equipment.
  • Complete work with minimal supervision while following applicable codes, standards, safety requirements, and established procedures.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to trainees or helpers when assigned.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of materials and supplies when operating an assigned service vehicle.
  • Support emergency and after-hours response when assigned to an on-call rotation.

Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Licensure:
    • Valid state driver's license
  • Experience:
    • Journeyman-level plumbing/pipefitting experience
    • Experience working with water, gas, sewage, and utility systems
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Thorough knowledge of plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance methods and techniques
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, schematics, and work orders
    • Ability to independently plan and lay out piping systems and equipment.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to use standard plumbing tools, equipment, and trade mathematics
    • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions regarding materials, tools, and work methods
    • Commitment to safe, professional, and high-quality workmanship
  • On-Call & Emergency Support
    • This position may participate in a rotating on-call schedule and may require responding to after-hours emergencies. When assigned to on-call duty, employees must remain available and be able to report to the work site within two hours when required
    • Employees may also be designated as essential personnel and required to report for duty or remain in duty status during emergency situations, including severe weather, natural disasters, or periods of increased security
  • Physical & Work Environment
    • This is an active, hands-on trade position. You should be comfortable with:
      • Lifting up to 40 pounds independently
      • Climbing ladders and scaffolding
      • Working on rooftops, in equipment rooms, under buildings, and in confined spaces
      • Standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching
      • Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
      • Working in hot, cold, noisy, poorly ventilated, or poorly lighted environments
      • Exposure to fumes, dust, dirt, grease, oil, electrical hazards, and other typical construction and maintenance conditions
