About the role:
The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, implementing, and testing solutions for Digital Asset’s products, working on large, complex, multi-component features and products, requiring team collaboration and a clear view of our customers' needs. The Staff Software Engineer understands DA products with both breadth and depth.
Responsibilities:
- Delivers high-quality and thoroughly-tested code, following our coding standards and organizational practices
- Independently and collaboratively delivers high-quality, fully tested advancements to DA products. The scope of work is 2 months or less.
- Breaks down large projects into smaller tasks that can be completed by other members of the team and communicates these tasks effectively both verbally and in writing
- Programs in multiple languages including but not limited to Scala, Haskell, Java, Go, and Daml
- Develops on MacOS, Linux, and/or Windows operating systems, with the primary deployment target of Linux
- Develops using Git and GitHub source code management tools
- Leverages product expertise to avoid potential problems, defining solutions and directing team members successfully
- Proficient in team processes and practices and recommends improvements to these processes
- Helps other team members attain the info they need to be successful and frequently mentors other team members
What We're Looking For:
- Expert in DA products. Has a broad and deep understanding of Daml
- MS or PhD in computer science or a related discipline or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of scalable, distributed systems, and event-driven systems
- Strong architectural and systems leadership and design thinking
- Able to accurately estimate projects
- In-depth knowledge in at least one of the functional programming languages, ideally Scala or Haskell.
- Highly competent in one or more domains of the Daml product and continually expanding their knowledge and expertise. Able to troubleshoot and optimize both within and across domains.
