Objective of the Role

Implement and maintain data governance within Spin to ensure a Business Data-Driven culture and way of working, where reliable, consistent, complete, accurate, and timely data is enabled. This ensures that appropriate access is provided for each of our internal and external clients in a secure manner, while complying with necessary laws and regulations

Main Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison with multiple data and business teams/departments for matters related to the planning and analysis of deliverables and processes of projects associated with data governance.
  • Identify critical data for the business, along with ownership and responsibility for these data assets, to ensure they are effectively managed and always maintain their integrity.
  • Conduct analysis and execute tasks independently that contribute to workflows, focusing on a wide range of data initiatives, including data requirements, issue management, understanding data quality problems, lineage, data governance, and taxonomy.
  • Examine and evaluate the status of the assigned project, including estimating the number of tasks, time, and resources, identifying risks, access issues, documentation, and potential problems that need to be escalated or changed, proposing various solutions to project leaders.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and guidelines related to the documentation of data dictionaries, data flows, involved applications, consumers, as well as ongoing actions for quality improvement, security, usage, and data lifecycle management through the implementation of controls.
  • Document and collaborate in the development of data governance policies, procedures, and standards for Spin, working with SRE, Data Architecture, and Security teams to democratize data and implement a "Business Data Driven" culture.
  • Accelerate the maturity of the "Data Driven" culture within Spin's verticals through planned initiatives and trainings.
  • Lead topics related to Data Governance, standards, policies, processes, etc., from definition to execution, establishing compliance metrics that assist in the continuous improvement of Data Governance.
  • Define, maintain, and implement practices and artifacts that keep the data dictionary, data glossary, data lineage, and organizational metadata up to date.
  • Define, in collaboration with the business, frameworks and/or ways of working that align and optimize data processes.
  • Ensure user and business compliance with the defined frameworks and/or ways of working.
  • Safeguard data documentation regarding policies, rules, and standards.
  • Support problem resolution within the project by proposing various alternative solutions for complex issues and interpreting and advising on data governance policies, guidelines, or processes.
  • Optimize workflows and interactions that promote good communication between departments, eliminating data silos that encourage data sharing, ensuring ingestion and analysis do not occur in isolation.
  • Supervise and comply with security and data protection guidelines to detect potential risks and ensure that data usage complies with established regulations.
  • Ensure the masking of personal and/or sensitive personal data in development, quality, and production environments.
  • Ensure that projects related to ingestion and/or data migration activities meet acceptance criteria regarding established parameters (volumes, masking, data types, table structures, nomenclature, etc.).
  • Maintain control over data from ingestion to mitigate risks in various data lake environments, detecting potential risks and ensuring compliance with established regulations.
  • Automate and implement controls at various stages of the data lifecycle to plan for corrective and improvement procedures aimed at enhancing data quality.
  • Define access matrices (roles, permissions, and access) for the tools within the data platform based on user positions.
  • Ensure the implementation and operation of the metadata management tool aligns with the organization’s needs.
  • Ability to resolve complex situations and/or decisions and foster consensus through a diplomatic approach.
  • Ability to lead multiple stakeholders on the benefits of Data Governance.
  • Act as a mentor in resolving Data Governance issues with peers.
  • Lead access recertification audits for users on data storage tools.
  • Define best practices for building data domains across the entire Spin ecosystem and execute the corresponding activities for domain maintenance.
  • Promote an autonomous work culture by encouraging self-management, accountability, and proactive problem-solving among team members.
