Your role
You join our Publisher engineering team in Ghent, Belgium. As a global company, you will also work closely with our engineering and product management teams across Europe and the US.
- As a Software Engineer in Test, lead the quality strategy for one or more engineering teams, embedding test-first thinking into every phase of delivery.
- Design, implement, and maintain automated tests at all levels: integration, contract, performance, and end-to-end.
- Coach engineers on testability, TestOps best practices, and shift-left principles.
- Implement observability-driven testing and feedback loops for production incidents and regression risks.
- Own and evolve our test frameworks and tooling (Java 21, JUnit 5, Typescript, Allure, Cucumber, Playwright, etc.).
- Ensure test coverage and traceability to business requirements, collaborating with product, UX, and engineers.
- Contribute to architectural decisions from a quality-first perspective, ensuring scalability, reliability, and debuggability.
We realize your background might be different than ours, and we welcome it. Rather than requiring very specific technical knowledge, we think it’s important to have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of software testing.
Who You Are
- You are a hands-on Software Engineer in Test with proven experience leading quality strategy and implementation within cross-functional teams.
- You’ve worked in shift-left environments and helped teams adopt test-first approaches (BDD, TDD, contract testing).
- You have strong experience in Java or Typescript and working knowledge of REST/gRPC APIs, message queues, and distributed systems.
- You can architect and maintain scalable automation suites across frontend and backend layers.
- You thrive on preventing bugs, not just catching them. You believe in building the right feedback loops from the start of the SDLC.
- You are highly collaborative and comfortable working closely with product and engineering teams (Within the same repositories).
- You are excellent at articulating your reasoning and making your assumptions explicit in English. Having good proficiency in Dutch is an advantage.

We offer excellent compensation and benefits:
- A competitive salary
- A bonus and stock plan
- A company car
- A generous vacation policy
- Flexible working hours and a hybrid work model
