Contracts Administration Director - Legal Counsel

**this role will be hybrid with at least 3 days/week in the Detroit office**

Summary: We have an opening for a Contracts Administration Director in our Detroit office.  Together with a staff of two colleagues, this role is responsible for the day-to-day client management and the smooth operation of the contract management process. Responsibilities include reviewing and drafting regional and national promotional agreements and related documents to ensure clarity, legal compliance, and best business practices. The Contracts Administration Director will also provide general commercial legal counsel to the Detroit office in collaboration with the corporate legal team. 

 Key Accountabilities: 

  • Serve as strategic partner and trusted advisor to GM’s legal and account clients and our Agency account teams. 
  • Lead Contract Administration and Evaluations teams to ensure timely, accurate processing of all agreements.  
  • Review, draft, negotiate, and report on promotional, sweepstakes, personal services, and product placement agreements on behalf of General Motors LLC.  
  • Draft agreement templates, as necessary. 
  • Interact daily with the account teams, evaluation staff, and as necessary, third-party promoters. 
  • Ensure marketing programs follow best business practices and comply with legal standards and GM’s policies and processes.  
  • Work closely with GM’s advertising and marketing legal staff. 
  • Use GM’s web-based database system to review and approve marketing programs from the legal perspective.  
  • Assist employees with understanding legal agreements. 
  • Act as a resource and advisor for sponsorship and procurement contracts as requested.  

Requirements: 

  • 5-10 plus years of related legal experience required. 
  • Experience with contract administration – writing, reviewing, revising.
  • Strong client management skills. 
  • Excellent, high-level writing skills. 
  • Highly organizedextremely detail oriented, possessing extremely strong writing skills.
  • Ability to constantly manage and prioritize multiple programs. 
  • Takes initiative but enjoys and excels working in collaborative environment. 
  • J.D. degree and admission to State Bar of Michigan required. 
  • Knowledge of intellectual property law and marketing law is a plus.

In Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City the standard base pay for this role is $100,000.00 annually (there may be some flexibility), depending on relevant factors including experience, internal equity and market considerations. This base pay range is specific to Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, and New York City and may not be applicable to other locations.
