About the Position
Energy Exemplar is seeking a Global Account Director to lead and expand our strategic relationships with key clients across the EMEA energy landscape. This high impact role is ideal for an experienced commercial executive who brings deep domain expertise in energy markets, paired with consultative sales capability and a strong drive to accelerate digital transformation through modelling and simulation technologies.
As a trusted advisor to major utilities, system operators, government agencies, and large energy players across EMEA, you will own the full account lifecycle building high value relationships, identifying strategic opportunities, and ensuring our customers achieve success with our flagship product, PLEXOS and broader software suite.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Account Ownership
- Lead the development and execution of strategic account plans for top-tier EMEA customers, spanning utilities, TSOs/DSOs, ministries, and independent power producers.
- Build multi-stakeholder relationships, including C-level executives, planners, analysts, and trading teams.
- Align Energy Exemplar’s solutions to client goals in capacity expansion, market design, integrated resource planning, and grid resilience.
Revenue Growth & Commercial Strategy
- Drive commercial outcomes across software, services, training, and support by uncovering and developing new business opportunities.
- Lead complex sales engagements from needs assessment and solution design to proposal delivery and contract negotiation.
- Grow account value through upselling high-impact capabilities, including scenario modelling, market forecasting, and AI-driven automation.
Executive Engagement & Market Influence
- Lead strategic customer engagements such as roadmap sessions, innovation briefings, and co-development initiatives.
- Represent Energy Exemplar at industry conferences, regulatory working groups, and EMEA market forums.
- Advocate for regional customer needs within global product and leadership teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with solution engineers, consultants, and product specialists to ensure high-value delivery across the customer lifecycle.
- Bring market insights and customer feedback into internal planning to shape roadmap and services strategy.
- Maintain account health through governance reviews, performance monitoring, and risk mitigation.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise software sales, strategic account management, or business development ideally within the energy, utilities, or power market sectors.
- Strong understanding of selling across different countries in EMEA
- Proven ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder engagements and close large, consultative deals.
- Experience working with regulated utilities, TSOs/DSOs, energy ministries, or global power developers.
- Exceptional relationship-building, negotiation, and executive communication skills.
- Degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or related field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA or MSc) preferred.
- Willingness to travel across EMEA as needed.
