Senior Software Engineer (Platform)
Job Summary: As a Software Engineer in Platform Engineering, you will play a crucial role in building internal tools and contributing to platform development. This hybrid role combines elements of DevOps, Application Security (AppSec), and Architecture to streamline the development process and improve efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Library and Module Development:
- Design and develop abstract libraries and modules to streamline software development processes.
- Create reusable images and scaffolding tools to support microservice applications, allowing developers to focus on configuration rather than infrastructure setup.
Performance and Efficiency Improvement:
- Analyze existing software components to identify areas for performance enhancement using tools like [specify tools if applicable].
- Implement optimizations to improve the efficiency and scalability of software systems.
Internal Tooling and Automation:
- Develop internal tools that allow developers to deploy environments with simple commands.
- Abstract out reusable components from the codebase, making them part of the platform for developers to use as needed.
- Standardize common libraries such as logging, observability (tracing), and profiling.
- Ensure seamless integration with CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
Module Maintenance and Support:
- Maintain and update libraries and modules to meet evolving business needs.
- Provide support and documentation for other teams to effectively utilize these resources.
Testing and Quality Assurance:
- Write comprehensive test cases to ensure the reliability and quality of developed libraries.
- Collaborate with QA teams to implement automated testing strategies using frameworks like [specify frameworks if applicable].
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with Principal Engineers, architects, and cross-functional teams to understand their requirements and provide tailored solutions.
- Gather feedback from developers to continuously improve the "developer experience."
Continuous Learning and Improvement:

- Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance platform capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Software Engineer with a focus on platform engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Go, and JavaScript programming languages.
- Experience in developing and maintaining software libraries and modules.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Proficient in writing and executing test cases.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with version control systems like Git.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience in working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
- Understanding of Linux systems.
