Senior System Modeling Engineer- Battery Management System
Figure is an AI Robotics company developing a general purpose humanoid. Our humanoid robot, Figure 02, is designed for commercial tasks and the home. We are based in Sunnyvale, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration. It’s time to build.
We are looking for a system modeling engineer to lead the development of BMS algorithms. In this role, you will work with a highly cross functional group to design and control an industry leading battery system for a humanoid robot.
Responsibilities:
- Own battery modeling for all Figure products (equivalent circuit, electrochemical, aging etc.)
- Inform design trade-off of different battery chemistry and architecture
- Develop battery SOC/SOH estimation and fault detection (i.e. thermal runaway, SOC imbalance) algorithms
- Collaborate closely with hardware team to define sensor specifications for optimized battery state estimation & control
- Collaborate closely with firmware team to implement BMS algorithm
Requirements:
- Expertise in battery modeling
- Expertise in BMS algorithm development
- Proficient in python
- Ability to implement BMS control algorithm on hardware
- Excellent first-principles physics understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, power delivery, energy storage and transformation
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Science or similar field
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience working with high volume product
- Experience modeling and designing electromechanical system
The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $180,000 - $270,000 annually.
The pay offered for this position may vary based on several individual factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional components/benefits depending on the specific role. This information will be shared if an employment offer is extended.
