Japanese Speaking Principal Implementation Engineer

 

About the role:

We are looking for a motivated, energetic, and focused Principal Implementation Engineer to be the technical face of Forter to our customers. You will be responsible for managing the client onboarding process, answering all technical questions arising pre- and post-sale, assessing customer needs and resolving their technical questions, and identifying and adapting Forter’s products and services, as necessary. You will work in conjunction with our R&D, Sales, Solutions Consulting, Customer Success, and Product Management / Analytics teams as a key technical advisor and product advocate for our solutions, ensuring that Forter consistently delivers superior service and support to existing and prospective customers.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Own and manage the full technical integration lifecycle for enterprise customers in Japan and APAC.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all technical matters during onboarding, from pre-sale to go-live.
  • Build and maintain detailed project plans, ensuring timely delivery and successful implementation.
  • Lead regular project calls with customer stakeholders, maintaining clear communication, documentation, and alignment across teams.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Forter’s integration stack: APIs, JavaScript, JSON, and broader web technologies.
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams (R&D, Product, Analytics, Solutions Consulting, Sales, and Customer Success) to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges, using a solution-oriented approach to keep projects on track.
  • Perform data/technical gap analyses, documenting requirements and managing technical expectations.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, guides, and tools to streamline the onboarding process.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve Forter’s integration methodology based on learnings and customer feedback.

 

Who are you?

  • Fluency in Japanese and English, with experience in a global, cross-functional environment. This role will support both Japanese clients within Japan, and clients across APAC
  • 5 – 7 years of experience in technical implementation, integration, or solution engineering roles.
  • Client-facing experience with enterprise customers, ideally in SaaS, payments, fraud prevention, or eCommerce.
  • Strong technical knowledge of API integrations, JavaScript, JSON, and web/database technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects across diverse stakeholders and geographies.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with both technical and business audiences.
  • A proactive, self-starter mindset with an ownership mentality and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience leading multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high quality and customer satisfaction.

 

Bonus Points For

  • Experience in the payments, fraud prevention, or digital commerce industries.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of risk management or transaction monitoring technologies.

Hybrid work:
