About This Role
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will support the design, development, analysis, testing, and evaluation of electrical systems and associated equipment. You will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our facility electrical systems and onsite power infrastructure. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment, contributing to innovative engineering solutions in advanced energy production. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a foundational understanding of engineering principles and a willingness to learn and grow within the field.
Responsibilities:

Conduct design, analysis, testing, and performance evaluations of electrical equipment and systems, ranging from low-voltage DC to high-voltage three-phase systems, including related components and infrastructure.

Analyze and design onsite power generation systems, including microgrids, natural gas generators, and integrated backup power systems, with a focus on load management, reliability, and grid interconnectivity.

Evaluate electrical load profiles and energy demands to develop optimized onsite generation strategies and power distribution configurations.

Serve as the engineer responsible for the operation, maintenance, and improvement of one or more facility systems, such as lighting, cathodic protection, grounding, lightning protection, fire alarms, public address systems, building evacuation systems, communication networks, cranes, motors, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), battery systems, circuit breakers, and transformers.

Support the planning, design, and implementation of electrical control systems and modifications, integrating various electrical components and accommodating diverse power distribution requirements.

Develop and provide detailed specifications and design documentation for contractors and project stakeholders, ensuring timely, code-compliant, and high-quality delivery of work.
Basic Qualifications:

Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.

Ability to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles and engineering fundamentals, even with partial information.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Ability to design and analyze electrical systems in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

Proficient in circuit design and analysis.

Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.

Experience with asset management principles.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
-
Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc.).

Experience in a fast-paced engineering environment or a highly technical role requiring a resourceful, entrepreneurial approach to complete tasks within tight timeframes or budget constraints.

Experience with electrical installations for high-voltage and low-voltage distribution, process plant equipment, battery systems, and lighting and power systems.

Experience with microgrid architecture, distributed generation systems, or generator control systems.

Nuclear facility or industrial energy infrastructure experience.

Arc flash hazard calculation experience.
-
Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred or the ability to obtain one.

Advanced degrees.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.

Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this role is $80,000–$180,000 annually.
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and may be adjusted based on market conditions, business needs, or other factors. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
