The Dining Services team at Givens Estates, a nationally recognized nonprofit life plan community (continuing care retirement community), is hiring 2 Part-time Production Line Cook's to help support our dining venue and production kitchen. We are a creative team that is passionate about using fresh, local, and sustainable products to bring high-quality food to our community. The Production Line Cook will have a unique opportunity to channel their knowledge, skills, ambition, and experience in a meaningful way that directly impacts the lives of our residents and team members.
Schedule/Availability: Flexible availability needed with weekend availability required
What you'll do:
- Efficiently prepare, cook, and plate a variety of dishes according to standardized recipes and menu guidelines, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation
- In collaboration with the executive sous chef, review menus, recipes, and prep lists to determine type and quantities of menu items to be prepared
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment and appliances safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, and mixers, and report any malfunctions to management
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and timely service, communicating effectively during meal preparation and service times
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper sanitation practices, food handling procedures, and the cleaning and maintenance of work areas
- Perform any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned on an as-needed basis by an authorized supervisor
What you'll need:
- Two or more years in a similar work experience
- Knowledge of proper methods and cooking temperatures for best utilization in yield of meats and other foods
- Ability to time cooking of vegetables so that their nutritional quality, flavor, and appearance are preserved
- Ability to accurately estimate quantities of food needed and yields from bulk foods
- Knowledge of and an appreciation for principles and requirements of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment
Compensation is $20.00 - $23.00 per hour, based on background and experience, plus our comprehensive benefits package!
