Senior Manager, Procurement

The Role 

The Sr. Procurement Manager for GTI is responsible for partnering with corporate procurement, Key Corporate Stakeholders (including Brand, Innovation, Engineering, Operations, & Construction), Cultivation Sites, & the Supply Planning team to manage activities in the capital, special large spend projects and other areas within the procurement function. This role will be critical to ensure equipment, products, packaging and services are purchased in the most cost and time efficient manner. Through contract evaluation, vendor management and supplier selection, the spend will be tracked and driven through detailed reporting for the assigned spend categories. This role will also be accountable for driving profit enhancement through negotiations, cost savings and enabling differentiated product sourcing solutions while keeping in mind high quality and speed of business. They will collaborate, develop, and operate plans with the Sr. Director of Procurement to ensure Green Thumb has the resources to support current forecasted business and projected growth to respond to current and emerging markets.   

Responsibilities 

  • Undertakes day-to-day, full-cycle, procurement activities for GTI’s Capital, Special Projects and other related categories. 
  • Leads the Capital & Special Projects Sourcing Process, including preparing RFI/RFPs by working closely with the stakeholders to understand their needs, translating that into the RFI/RFP template, asking the relevant questions, and managing the RFI/RFP process. 
  • Following procurement strategies, policies and procedures as defined by the leadership team, develops a comprehensive understanding of business and user requirements for assigned spend categories. 
  • Identifies cost savings, areas for efficiency and opportunities. 
  • Identifies and partners with business stakeholders to execute cost reduction opportunities to achieve financial goals without compromising quality or service. 
  • Develops a business relationship with cross-functional stakeholders internally and externally. 
  • Manages complex negotiations with suppliers that require a detailed strategic plan independently.  
  • Supports the development of direct reports and cross-functional teams by identifying internal customers and stakeholders for inclusion; interfaces with internal customers to understand requirements and resolves issues; involves key stakeholders in sourcing development and execution; informs Sr. Director of Procurement of conflicts between stakeholder requirements and sourcing strategy. 
  • Manages planning and purchasing activities, supervise direct reports, and allocate tasks as required. 
  • Closely work with accounting team to make sure billing is done properly by vendors.  
  • Identify, supply, and resolve issues/disruptions. 
  • Builds a network of reliable and quality suppliers and vendors; forges close supplier relationships with relevant vendors and service providers in a bid to earn savings and/or discounts. 
  • Support colleagues by providing input on a global sourcing strategy: Dual sourcing, the correct balance of offshore & near shore production, weighing cost benefits versus business risk to make the best decision. 
  • Helps drive tracking and reporting for assigned spend areas; develops tracking mechanisms and supplier key performance indicators with the Director; tracks compliance and develops leakage reports; supports formal management reporting to senior director and other members of senior management. 
  • Manages complex negotiations with suppliers that require a detailed strategic plan. 
  • Monitor status of open purchase orders with teams engaged to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication, and mitigation of future potential problems. 
  • Identify and partner with business stakeholders to execute cost reduction opportunities to achieve financial goals without compromising quality or service. 
  • ERP SME – Support/optimization be the face of the procurement team with respect to ERP initiatives. Creates large value purchase orders, and supports other purchases as needed.  
  • Process improvement  
  • Collaborate with internal partners to ensure all procurement requirements are met, to successfully launch and deliver new products. 

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field: business, supply chain, materials management, engineering 
  • 8+ years significant experience in Cannabis, manufacturing, or CPG procurement operations with at least 5 years of related experience 
  • Persistent drive for results utilizing sound project management, as well as organizational and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to make sound business judgments related to strategic supply philosophies and initiatives. 
  • Hands-on expertise developing and implementing programs for cost reduction, supplier performance management and inventory reduction. 
  • APICS or Supply Chain Certification a plus 
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness. 
  • Adapts and thrives in a demanding, start-up, fast-paced environment. 
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, non-verbal, written), with the ability to build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally. 
  • Possesses a high level of critical thinking. 
  • Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information.

Additional Requirements 

  • Must pass any and all required background checks.  
  • Able to travel up to 10%. 
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
