Remote

itD is looking for a Lead Usability Analyst (UX Researcher), you’ll lead design research across web, mobile apps, in-store digital experiences, and emerging AI-enabled touchpoints. You’ll advocate for user needs throughout the product development cycle and partner cross-functionally to shape strategy, improve client experiences, and evolve research practices through AI-enabled tooling.

As part of the User Experience team, you’ll help advance how research is conducted while maintaining rigor, participant trust, data integrity, and client privacy.

Responsibilities:

Core Research

  • Lead high-impact studies end-to-end, using sound research judgment to select the right approach for the question at hand.
  • Conduct foundational research to inform product and design strategy across complex, high-priority initiatives.
  • Analyze qualitative research data, including usability tests, interviews, participatory design, and heuristic evaluations, and synthesize findings with quantitative and behavioral data.
  • Translate research findings into actionable insights and specific design recommendations.
  • Connect research signals across projects to identify patterns, synergies, and broader opportunities.
  • Communicate insights through clear, compelling storytelling that makes complex research actionable for partners ranging from developers to executives.

AI-Enabled Ways of Working

  • Use approved AI tools to accelerate study setup, analysis, synthesis, desk research, survey drafting, and reporting while maintaining rigor, researcher judgment, and accountability for conclusions.
  • Design research for AI-driven experiences, including agentic, conversational, and personalized AI features.
  • Evaluate AI experiences for usability, trust, transparency, and the difference between what users say they want and how they actually behave.
  • Contribute to responsible AI practices in research, including appropriate handling of participant data and PII, awareness of model limitations and bias, appropriate disclosure, and human validation of AI-generated outputs before they inform decisions.
  • Help maintain a well-organized, easily accessible, and increasingly AI-queryable knowledge base of past research, such as searchable insight repositories, so prior learnings are discoverable and reusable across teams and tools.
  • Connect research insights to shared product, design, and engineering workflows so evidence reaches partners where they work.

Leadership & Adaptability

  • Act as a thought partner in discovery, strategy, and problem framing.
  • Navigate ambiguity across project priorities, concurrent workstreams, and problem spaces, bringing clarity to changing scope, user needs, and decisions.
  • Mentor researchers and designers in a user-centered process and help raise the bar on methodology, AI-enabled practices, and insight quality across the team.
  • Evaluate emerging research methods, AI tools, and ways of working; help the team adopt approaches that add value and phase out those that do not.

The internal responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Attend regular internal practice community meetings.
  • Collaborate with your itD practice team on industry thought leadership.
  • Complete client case studies and learning material. (Blogs, media material).
  • Build out material to contribute to Digital Transformation practice.

Qualifications:

  • 5–8+ years of experience in UX research, product research, or a related research role.
  • Practical experience using research tools, AI-enabled workflows, or emerging methods to improve research quality, speed, or impact.
  • Experience leading complex research initiatives that influence product, design, and cross-functional strategy.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.

An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
