Safety Manager

We are looking to hire a Safety Manager in St. Louis, MO, to support our Civil Energy Team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage safety efforts on multiple projects with self-perform and subcontracted leadership and workforce developing metrics to measure project and contractor safety performance
  • Manage Subcontractor and Contracted Safety Personnel
  • Spend 75-80% of his/her time in the field on projects
  • Develop training and education presentations (both jobsite and classroom) for Project, Group and Company focus
  • Collaborate with Operations Leadership to deliver consistent cultural message
  • Develop long-lasting partnerships with clients by engaging them in project performance
  • Facilitate Group Safety Champions Teams Process Improvement Initiatives
  • Build trust and respect with field personnel to promote open communication and influence adoption of safety practices
  • Assess crews and conditions in the field to ensure work is performed in a safe manner
  • Complete electronic documented site safety assessments and corresponding summary reports
  • Meet / Exceed individual and team Scorecard metrics and be actively engaged in Keeley strategic planning and i404
  • Identify trends, patterns and practices and advise management on issue resolution
  • Assist project team to create project safety plans and assist in facilitation of pre-activity meetings
  • Conduct after action reviews of loss producing events and assist/lead RCA of severe events
  • Monitor and maintain adequate supply of personal protective equipment for field employees
  • Promote safety and health awareness through crew and one-on-one conversations
  • Help mentor safety interns each summer
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the VP of Safety and Operations Group & Project Leadership

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & health, safety management, or safety-related degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years’ safety related experience
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations and practices with emphasis in construction
  • History of safe personal practices and driving record
  • CSP, CIH, CHST, OHST, CUSP, or similar certification preferred
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with utility construction preferred
