Director Data Architect – Omnichannel Customer Experience (OCX)

Summary of Job:

Kyowa Kirin, North America is actively seeking a Data Architect for our Commercial OCX Team. The Data Architect will be responsible for orchestrating the comprehensive architecture and management of data across multiple channels that engage healthcare professionals, patients, and payers. This role involves designing, creating, deploying, and maintaining data architecture to support integrated omnichannel marketing strategies and digital health initiatives. The Data Architect ensures the security, scalability, and reliability of data solutions across digital and traditional platforms, facilitating seamless and personalized customer experiences.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and implement efficient data integration strategies to consolidate data from various sources, including CRM systems, digital marketing platforms, customer interactions, and sales channels, ensuring seamless data flows across the omnichannel landscape.
  • Develop and maintain robust data models that support the unique needs of omnichannel strategies in the pharmaceutical industry, enabling sophisticated analytics and personalized customer engagement.
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with industry regulations such as HIPAA and GDPR. This includes managing data access rights and auditing data usage.
  • Act as a technical leader and advisor to cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, IT, and compliance departments, to ensure alignment of data strategies with business objectives and regulatory standards.
  • Provide the infrastructure and frameworks necessary for advanced analytics, including machine learning and AI, to enable predictive modeling and data-driven decision-making.
  • Implement rigorous data security measures to protect sensitive information and customer data, aligning with best practices and regulatory requirements to mitigate risks associated with data breaches and unauthorized access.
  • Monitor and improve data quality, ensuring that the data used in decision-making processes is accurate, complete, and timely. Develop mechanisms to clean and validate data regularly.
  • Optimize the performance of data systems to handle high volumes of data efficiently, ensuring that data processing does not become a bottleneck for the organization’s omnichannel activities.
  • Evaluate and recommend new data technologies and tools that can enhance the capabilities of the omnichannel platform, staying ahead of technological advancements to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Regularly engage with stakeholders to report on data strategy progress and outcomes. Facilitate workshops and training sessions to enhance data literacy across the organization, promoting a culture that values data-driven insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically, to build alliances cross-functionally, and the flexibility to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

Job Requirements:

The role demands a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry's regulatory environment and compliance requirements, alongside proficiency in modern data platforms like Azure and Databricks. The Data Architect is pivotal in driving a data-driven culture, enhancing data literacy among stakeholders, and implementing governance frameworks to maintain data integrity and privacy.

Education

  • Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Engineering, Economic Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research) required.

Experience

  • At least 7-10 years of experience in data architecture with a significant portion spent in the Commercial organization of pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, demonstrating a deep understanding of the unique data challenges and regulatory requirements around OCX and digital engagement.
  • Proven track record of successful design, implementation, and management of large-scale data architectures and analytics platforms, particularly in supporting omnichannel marketing and digital engagement strategies.
  • Expertise in key data technologies and platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Databricks, SQL, and familiarity with programming languages like Python or R for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Experience in leading data-centric projects, managing cross-functional teams, and working collaboratively with stakeholders from IT, marketing, compliance, and business operations to drive data initiatives.
  • Strong background in developing and enforcing data governance frameworks, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with laws like HIPAA, GDPR, or other relevant pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate with data solutions and analytics to meet business needs, along with excellent problem-solving skills to overcome technical and regulatory challenges in data management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of articulating complex data-related concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influencing decision-making processes at higher levels of the organization.

 Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in data modeling tools such as ER/Studio, Enterprise Architect to create and manage complex data schemas.
  • Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems, including SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
  • Experience with big data technologies like Apache Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka for processing large datasets efficiently.
  • Expertise in cloud services, especially Microsoft Azure and AWS, for managing scalable and secure data storage and compute resources.
  • Proficiency in data integration tools such as Informatica, Talend, and Azure Data Factory for building robust data pipelines.
  • Strong coding skills in SQL and familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, or Scala for data manipulation and analytics.
  • Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik for developing insights and reporting.
  • Understanding of machine learning algorithms and artificial intelligence concepts to support advanced analytics initiatives.

Non-Technical Skills

The ability to organize, prioritize, meet deadlines, make decisions, and change the course of action quickly. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. A strong work ethic is required. Detail-oriented and excellent follow-through. Has the ability to flex and deal with ambiguity in a dynamic, fast-paced, high-growth environment. Has a passion for personal learning and development to be able to grow with the company. Cultural sensitivity and ability to develop consensus within a multinational organization.

Physical demands: Traditional office environment with prolonged sitting and extensive computer work

Working Conditions: Requires up to 10% domestic travel
