The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

Manager, Event & Venue Management:

The Event & Venue Management (EVM) team is responsible for leading the integrated event operational planning at the venue level for all competition and training venues and some major non-competition venues.  The Event & Venue Management team is responsible for managing and coordinating the negotiation of venue agreements, site visits, the collation and organization of venue-related documentation and data, and the maintenance of strong working relationships with all venue partners.  At Games Time, the Event Management team leads and manages the event teams at venues, event delivery, venue communication, and venue issue resolution.

The Manager, Event & Venue Management will be responsible for managing centralized operational planning, collating and distributing information across teams, supporting the venue agreement negotiation process centrally, and providing project management support across all venues managed by the Event & Venue Management team.

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and responsible for ensuring the EVM team provides critical input to internal teams. Adept at managing multiple concurrent projects and coordinating across complex organizations, they will ensure EVM milestones are met, operational and venue agreement issues are effectively and efficiently resolved, and communication with internal venue teams is consistent and direct. They will assist in coordinating centralized operational information, assisting in the planning and execution of venue operations and venue use agreements, tracking action items, and managing reporting. Analytical skills and familiarity with dashboards and other reporting mediums will be paramount to success. Frequent, clear, and consistent communication with all cross-functional teams (Sport, Venue Infrastructure, Technology, Planning & Programs, Legal etc.) will be key to their role.

Relevant experience working within the sports and entertainment industry is desirable but not a requirement.

This position will report to the Director, Event Planning & Integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, synthesize, and disseminate key operational information and requirements from centralized planning efforts to relevant venue teams, ensuring alignment and consistent application across all venue-related activities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams to drive effective collaboration on centralized operational planning.
  • Project manage venue agreement negotiation process with venue teams through agreement reviews, risk and issue identification and management, and solution implementation
  • Create, manage, and maintain venue agreement status trackers, follow up on open matters, collate comments, and route agreements internally for resolution
  • Support the coordination of and materials preparation for cross-functional venue operational planning
  • Identify and develop measures and approaches to increase operational efficiencies, mitigate operational risks, and enhance stakeholder experience (including athletes, fans, partners, and media)
  • Working with internal stakeholders and external subject matter experts, help coordinate the development of the "Event Operational Plans"
  • Monitor key dates, milestones, and deliverables across venue teams ensuring timely progress and adherence to timelines
  • Assist with venue management budget development, tracking and analysis in line with financial objectives
  • Support the preparation and delivery or internal reporting and status tracking across various venue-related workstreams
  • Develop a strong understanding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Paralympic Committee (IPC) operational requirements for venue use agreements and venue delivery

Background & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in related roles in the sports, venue and/or event management industry working on major events, venue operations and/or event production
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully managing and executing events of varying sizes and complexities
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully managing and executing complex venue agreements that require input from cross-functional teams
  • Experience creating, developing and refining operational processes and procedures
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically to resolve issues efficiently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide team members to achieve common goals and foster people development
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple large-scale tasks and priorities simultaneously
  • Experience working within a complex, cross-functional organization
  • Fluent working with Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
  • Working knowledge of Smartsheet preferred
  • An innovative viewpoint, challenging the status quo and thinking ahead to future years of the Movement
  • Extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Strong team building and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to implement and manage change effectively
  • Experience with Olympic or Paralympic events a plus
  • Demonstrated commitment to co-creation and collaborative decision-making

Position Requirements:

  • Available to work in-person five days a week in our Los Angeles-based office
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment
  • Ability to travel occasionally to different venues across the Los Angeles region and possibly outside the Greater Los Angeles region.  

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent work experience

The annual base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 - $105,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
