We’re looking for a self-motivated Financial Controller, APAC to join our team. Reporting to the Global Assistant Controller, the Financial Controller will oversee and manage the accounting team responsible for APAC operations.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Oversee the month-end close procedures and accountable for delivering timely internal financial reports for the legal entities within their scope.
  • Lead, coach, inspire and manage an accounting team overseeing the APAC operations.
  • Manage, review and complete various accounting analysis, from the balance sheet to the Income statement, to provide accurate and relevant insights.
  • Accountable for the timely execution of annual statutory audits, and assist the Conso team with the external consolidated audit process and quarterly reviews.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of RDTI and Callaghan Innovation grant applications, working closely with technical, product, and finance teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all local tax obligations including BAS, GST and support the preparation of corporate tax filings.
  • Ensure timely submission of statutory surveys and government reporting requirements.
  • Utilizes advanced analytical skills to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights.
  • Ensure standardization of processes and methodologies across various legal entities and identify circumstances eligible for potential automation and integration to improve their team effectiveness.
  • Drives continuous improvement in accounting processes and systems.
  • Manages process optimization projects to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and overall financial performance. 
  • Oversees accounting policy updates/changes, and special accounting treatments and communicates efficiently the impact of such changes to their team.
  • Collaborate with other finance teams (i.e. FP&A, Tax, etc.) on various special projects.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual internal controls to ensure compliance with SOX.
  • Involvement in various complex accounting situations to identify potential solutions.
  • Working very closely with FP&A team to align budget and actuals along with supporting their needs around understanding the business unit/verticals impacts that are key drivers.
  • Participates in cross-functional meetings and projects to align accounting objectives with overall business goals.

What you need to bring:

We’re a team of 4 accountants located across APAC and are looking for an experienced candidate who has experience with the following:

  • CPA designation required
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a similar position or audit Manager level
  • Experience with IFRS-compliant reporting in Australia and/or New Zealand
  • Experience with Australian and New Zealand payroll processes
  • Proven experience in supervising and coaching a team
  • Strong leadership and adaptability skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Self-motivated, directed and starter individual, with strong professional skills. 
  • Experience with Netsuite, SOX and working in a publicly listed company or in SaaS, would be advantageous.
