Geartrain NVH Engineer, Drive Unit
The role
-Conduct Noise and Vibration Testing: Perform source-level noise and vibration assessments on prototype drive units and provide feedback for design improvements.
- Evaluate NVH Requirements: Identify and assess the NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) development needs for Lucid’s mid-size and third-party programs, focusing on areas such as geartrain design of experiments (DOE), acoustical materials, and drive unit isolation.
- Prioritize and Plan: Prioritize NVH development needs and create detailed test plans to evaluate the impact of proposed designs on overall NVH performance.
- Perform Advanced Analysis: Conduct modal analysis, transfer path analysis, vibration studies, and acoustic transfer function analysis throughout the design and development process to ensure world-class vehicle performance.
- Collaborate with CAE Team: Work closely with the NVH CAE team to provide accurate Romax model inputs and ensure model correlation with test data.
- Work with Manufacturing: Partner with the manufacturing team to develop pass/fail criteria for NVH and define defect metrics.
- Support Engineering Teams: Provide design direction based on test results to support engineering teams in achieving optimal performance.
- Contribute to Technical Documentation: Offer insights and input into the creation of component specifications, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and other critical technical design documents where testing and evaluation are key.
Qualifications
- Skills: Strong communication abilities, self-driven, excellent team collaborator, and an all-around problem solver.
- Expertise: In-depth knowledge of acoustics and vibration principles.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in NVH testing and analysis.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in NVH instrumentation and data acquisition, with experience using tools such as Romax Spectrum, Siemen’s SimCentre, Masta, LMS Testlab etc.
- CAE Knowledge: Familiarity with NVH CAE methods is an advantage.
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in delivering analysis on complex projects within tight deadlines.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering.
