CEI Inspector Aid
About the Position
We are seeking CEI Inspector Aid candidates who will provide Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI) services for transportation projects located in the state of Georgia. This is entry level inspector work supporting higher level inspectors and engineers on assignments relating to highway and bridge construction inspection. Work is generally performed under technical and administrative supervision and may include other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
This posting is for future, long-term, onsite CEI Inspector Aid positions located in the greater Atlanta, GA, area or potentially other areas around the state.
Responsibilities
- Will perform a range of routine and standardized work including, but not limited to, manual and/or electronic calculations, computations, and inspections of construction processes and materials to assure compliance with the construction contract.
- Will inspect truck load tickets for roadway aggregate base course; borrow material and asphaltic concrete at project field sites.
- Will perform a variety of simple materials sampling, inspection and/or testing.
- Will perform contract administrative duties, which may include field measurements of pay item quantities, project close-out, as well as other Department required documentation.
- May be required to use number of different pieces of equipment such as Slump Cone, Air Meter, Measuring Wheel/Tape, Thermometer, etc. Incumbents will be fully trained in the use of equipment necessary to accomplish their work.
- May be required to work at remote sites around construction equipment, drilling rigs, explosives and environment contamination.

Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Proficiency with computers (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Outlook, internet, etc.)
- General knowledge of mathematical functions.
- Skill in the use of office equipment such as calculators.
- Ability to learn and interpret such things as construction plans, contract provisions, and inspection procedures.
- Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with Georgia Law.
Required Certifications
The following certifications are required to be obtained within 12 months of the CEI Inspector Aid’s start date.
- Passing scores on GDOT’s Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests – Group 1 (General
- Provisions, Auxiliary Items, Basic Highway Math, Basic Highway Plan Reading).
- GSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control).
- GDOT WECS.
- GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.
Certifications from other agencies or states may possibly be substituted.
Compensation Details
The salary range listed for these roles is $35-50K annually. The final salary offered is based on multiple factors and is thoughtfully aligned with each candidate’s level of experience, breadth of skills, total education achieved, certifications/licenses that have been obtained, etc.
