Senior Associate - Project Management, Cruise

Position Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity for a business-minded individual to join the growing Cruise portfolio team as we foster economic growth and position the portfolio as a leader in environmental sustainability and socially responsible urban tourism.
This critical role, reporting directly to the Vice President of Cruise, will provide strong project management skills to the entire Cruise portfolio and ensure structure is in place to help met the desired timelines and budgets for the Cruise portfolio’s action plans. In addition, this role will, at times, have an external-facing component as we work together with the community, our cruise industry partners and government to achieve our vision and strategy. This role will also provide occasional operational support with site visits to the Cruise terminals.
This is a new role within the Cruise portfolio’s team of four staff. It reports directly to the VP of Cruise. It will work across departments within Asset Management, including Development, Operations, Strategic Analytics, Energy, and Design and Construction. The role will also work across EDC divisions, including Planning, Legal, External Affairs and Finance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the vision and strategy for the Cruise portfolio. Lead on specific action plans and workstreams to achieve the goals of the Cruise Portfolio.
- Serve as a point of contact for the Cruise portfolio from lease administration, tenant relations, property management, project management, procurement, negotiations, and business development initiatives.
- Help implement the vision, strategy and action plan for the Cruise portfolio with exceptional project management skills that support the entire portfolio in tracking goals and associated action plans.
- Draft presentations and memoranda for key stakeholders including senior EDC staff, City Hall staff, partner agencies, and external partners.
- Assist with engagement of industry and community partners, workforce development organizations, and regulatory and public agencies.
- Support business development efforts with strong project management skills and data analysis to support negotiating agreements, to enhance the portfolio's triple-bottom line performance objectives and market competitiveness.
- Work across the Asset Management Department and the organization to develop, implement and coordinate processes, analysis and strategies for managing capital projects and funding.
- Maintain various project management databases with timely updates and relevant information by closely coordinating with the Cruise portfolio team.
- Work with portfolio head and NYCEDC’s External Affairs, Equity and Legal teams to ensure integrated marketing and community sponsorship programs are in place and properly managed across various social, media and web platforms.
- Work with the portfolio head and NYCEDC’s External Affairs Department to engage with key stakeholders to foster mutually beneficial partnerships and community engagement initiatives.
- Leverage experience to implement strategies to enhance decision-making, compliance and desired outcomes.
- Flex between leading interdepartmental project teams as the core project manager and supporting other interdepartmental projects teams as a valuable team member.
- Support measures to optimize and report out on asset utilization and profitability compared with industry benchmarks
- Coordinate meetings, invites and agendas for key stakeholder meetings and participate in external stakeholder meetings
- Work the occasional weekend day at one of the Cruise terminals in a operational support role
- Undertake any additional duties as assigned by the VP of Cruise within Asset Management Ports, Waterfront and Transportation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, in public, environmental or transportation policy, planning, urban development, economics, real estate, finance or a related field; Master’s Degree in related field preferred
- At least 3-5 years of work experience in public policy, transportation, urban planning, management, or strategic consulting
- Interest in the cruise industry and the development of maritime infrastructure
- Demonstrated interest and excitement around developing and implementing environmentally and socially responsible initiatives related to electrical shore power, other renewable energy solutions, and sustainable urban tourism
- Demonstrated written, visual and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and engagement with external and senior internal stakeholders
- Proven project management experience and financial analysis skill set
- Keen attention to detail and ability to prioritize competing needs and opportunities
- Highly analytical and strategically minded, with a proven ability to creatively navigate and solve complex challenges
- Proactive “self-starter” and “team player” who is enterprising and resourceful, organized and results-oriented
- New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire
Salary Range
$90,000 - $92,000 USD
