Associate, MADE Bush Terminal

Position Overview: The MADE Bush Terminal Associate is responsible for supporting the oversight, development, and direct management of real estate strategies, asset-specific management plans, and innovative tools to optimize the overall operating model and expense structure for the MADE Bush Terminal campus. The Associate will help implement a vision and strategy for the equitable development of MADE Bush Terminal that advances the site as a hub for innovation, economic opportunity and community vitality while providing stable financial returns to NYCEDC and the City. Further, the Associate will manage internal and external planning processes focused on the future upgrades to and development of the MADE asset. Projects may include: procuring private operators; building out a tenant dashboard; establishing & maintaining digital infrastructure for tracking as-built unit conditions; helping develop and implement a robust schedule of on-site community events; preparing presentations and briefing documents, and supporting the project team to execute $100+ million in redevelopment projects for the MADE Bush Terminal campus.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in the day-to-day management of MADE Bush Terminal, including maintaining tenant directories, verifying rent rolls and updating stacking plans, liaising with tenants, leasing and operations teams.
- Assist in the coordination of MADE Bush Terminal site visits including external stakeholder, prospective tenant, and NYCEDC Senior Staff visits; maintain a thorough understanding of the location of all tenant units and directions.
- Prepare and distribute tenant email blasts related to Campus events, engagement, and operations.
- Coordinate with the Senior Associate, AMDC and Capital teams on tenant buildouts and permitting.
- Coordinate with the Special Events team and Portfolio Management on campus-specific events.
- Provide support to all areas of the division as directed or where service or assistance is needed.
- Support and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external project stakeholders including third party service providers and tenants.
- Prepare contracts, requests for proposals (RFPs), presentations, and reports according to department and senior management expectations.
- Develop and document best practices and SOPs for all aspects of the management of the asset.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or Planning
- 2+ years of experience in real estate development, asset management, urban planning, project management, economic development, commercial brokerage and/or related field.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, including written and verbal skills and experience with negotiations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including experience with building and managing complex Excel workbooks.
- Detail-oriented and creative project management skill set.
- Ability to work independently and strategically while prioritizing competing needs and opportunities.
- Experience drafting public communications, memos, RFPs, reports, and other presentation materials.
- Experience working directly with property managers and tenants, market research, industrial campus planning/policy, manufacturing, and/or NYC real estate is preferred.
- Familiarity with Sunset Park community and business and nonprofit ecosystems is preferred.
- New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire.
Salary Range
$80,000 - $82,000 USD
