ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Deputy Chief of Staff will serve as a key partner to the Chief of Staff, working closely with the President and CEO to ensure their priorities are executed with excellence. This role is designed to handle the day-to-day, project management, and executional detail of the executive office, creating capacity for the Chief of Staff to focus on longer-term strategy, integration, and organizational alignment. 

The Deputy will be the operational engine of the executive office—ensuring agendas are managed, deadlines are met, and follow-ups are executed—while working cross-functionally to  provide consistent, high-quality support across the leadership suite. Acting as the connective tissue between the Chief of Staff, EA team, and senior stakeholders, this individual will help translate strategic direction into execution and outcomes.

Role location: This role is based in our New York, N.Y. office on a hybrid basis, 3-4 days per week. 

ACCOUNTABILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS:

As Deputy Chief of Staff, you will:

  • Partner with the Chief of Staff: 
    • Translate high-level strategy into actionable priorities and manage the day-to-day execution, allowing the Chief of Staff to focus on long-term planning, integration, and senior-level advisory work
    • Project and deadline management: Track priorities, drive accountability, and ensure commitments are advanced with clarity and timeliness
    • Anticipate needs: Identify gaps and recommend solutions that streamline processes and enhance leadership effectiveness
  • Partner with executive office leadership: Work closely with the President on project and team management, ensuring priorities are advanced with clarity and speed
    • Drive excellence in executive office operations: Ensure the President and CEO are prepared, informed, and supported across all meetings, initiatives, and deliverables
    • Provide in-person executive support: Manage agendas, prep materials, and follow-ups for the CEO and President, ensuring deadlines and commitments are met
  • Enable proactive operations: Anticipate needs, identify gaps, and recommend solutions to streamline processes and enhance leadership effectiveness
  • Foster stakeholder confidence: Manage relationships with leaders, partners, and cross-functional teams with discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Support the function of the larger EA team: setting clear expectations, aligning priorities, sharing best practices, and fostering professional development to ensure consistent, high-quality support

Essential skills:

  • 7-10+ years of experience in executive support, project management, or operations within fast-paced, high-growth environments such as communications, consulting, legal, or professional services
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, competing deadlines, and executive-level priorities with strategic foresight and impeccable attention to detail
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; able to confidently interact with executives, stakeholders, and external partners
  • Strong leadership and team management experience, with demonstrated success developing and managing high-performing support staff
  • Highly proactive problem-solver with strong judgment, discretion, and the ability to thrive in dynamic and evolving environments
  • Technical proficiency across Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; familiarity with collaboration and workflow tools (Slack, Asana, etc.)

Preferred skills:

  • Experience in holding companies or the public relations, media, legal, or professional services sectors

WORKING AT ORCHESTRA

Salary (commensurate with experience and skills): $130,000 - $150,000
