Power BI Data Analyst

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Pioneering Evolution is seeking a highly skilled Power BI Data Analyst with a proven track record of developing and maintaining advanced reporting, analytics, dashboards, and other BI solutions using Microsoft Power BI. The ideal candidate will excel at performing complex data analysis, interpreting data trends, and translating high-level business needs into technical specifications to design and deliver impactful data analytics solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advanced Data Integration: Design and implement complex ETL processes using Power BI and other tools, integrating data from diverse systems while ensuring high accuracy and data integrity.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders by understanding their challenges and delivering actionable insights through customized reports and dashboards.
  • Strategic Impact: Identify and propose innovative BI solutions that align with organizational goals and enhance decision-making processes at the strategic level.
  • Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: Provide training and mentorship to team members and business users to enhance organizational data literacy and maximize the value of BI tools.
  • Data Governance and QA: Establish and enforce data governance practices and robust quality assurance processes to maintain the reliability and usability of analytics solutions.
  • Technology Leadership: Stay at the forefront of emerging data visualization and analytics technologies, proactively recommending improvements and innovations.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Mid to Senior-Level Experience: 7+ years in data analytics or BI development roles, with extensive experience in advanced Power BI implementations.
  • Advanced Power BI Expertise:
    • Mastery of Power BI tools including DAXPower Query, and advanced data modeling techniques.
    • Expertise with custom visualizations such as:
      • Deneb: For creating fully customizable and pixel-perfect visuals using Vega-Lite and Vega frameworks.
      • Charticulator: For bespoke chart designs.
      • Advanced visuals like KPI IndicatorSynoptic PanelMapbox Visuals, and Infographic Designer.
    • Experience integrating Power BI with external systems such as SharePointTeams, or Azure services.
    • Designing high-performance dashboards with advanced interactivity, custom themes, and scalability.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong ability to translate organizational objectives into actionable analytics initiatives and communicate data-driven insights to executive stakeholders.
  • Leadership Skills: Experience leading cross-functional teams, managing projects, or mentoring junior analysts in BI best practices.
  • Communication Excellence: Exceptional ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and influence decision-making through data.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • DoD/Program Office Experience: Experience supporting NAVSEA, NAVWAR, NAVAIR, or other DoD Program Offices, with an understanding of defense acquisition and resource management processes.
  • Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or equivalent certifications demonstrating expertise in Power BI and related tools.
  • Data Science Tools: Familiarity with Python, R, or machine learning frameworks to enhance predictive and prescriptive analytics capabilities.
  • Cloud Ecosystem Expertise: Experience with cloud-based BI ecosystems such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, or similar platforms.
