We are seeking a highly skilled Database Solutions Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in database management, optimization, backup and recovery, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams. This role is critical in designing and implementing robust database solutions to support our organizational goals and ensure optimal performance and availability.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Execute Database Solutions Roadmap: Participate in the execution of the solutions roadmap in the database area, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technological advancements.
- Develop Technical Collateral: Create and maintain technical documentation, including reference architectures and best practices, to support the implementation and adoption of database solutions.
- Lab-Based Solution Development: Build, demonstrate, and document innovative database solutions within our lab using Pure Storage and partner technologies, showcasing the capabilities and integrations of our solutions.
- Project Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead projects, working with cross-functional teams to design, build, and demonstrate database solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
- Technical Presentations: Create technical presentations for customer, field, and partner use, effectively communicating complex technical information in an accessible manner.
- Technical Strategy and MRD Engagement: Learn and understand the technical strategy in regard to Marketing Requirements Documents (MRD). Participate in cross-functional teams to review and influence product roadmaps.
- Professional Documentation: Plan, outline, and publish professional technical documents on schedule, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Customer Business Benefits Translation: Translate technical features into tangible customer business benefits, highlighting the value of our solutions.
- Collaborative Teamwork: Work collaboratively within a team and cross-functionally within the company to achieve common goals and drive innovation.
- Effective Communication: Communicate in a clear and concise professional manner, tailored to the appropriate audience; including both verbal and written communications.
- Manage Multiple Priorities: Manage multiple priorities and tasks within a dynamic work environment, ensuring timely and effective delivery of projects.
Primary Skills:
- Database Expertise: Thorough understanding of one or more databases such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
- Adaptability: Ability to extend knowledge to other database systems as needed.
- Optimization Concepts: Proficient in database optimization concepts, including sharding, partitioning, clustering, high availability, and replication.
- Backup and Recovery: Strong knowledge of database backup and recovery processes.
- Storage Protocols: Advanced knowledge of storage protocols such as iSCSI, FC, NFS, SMB, and object storage.
- High Availability: Knowledge of high availability and cross data center replication at the application or storage level is a plus.
Supporting Skills:
- Linux Skills: Proficient in basic Linux administration (RedHat, Ubuntu, etc).
- Troubleshooting: Strong ability to troubleshoot and interpret performance issues on operating systems.
- Virtualization and Containerization: Expertise in virtualization (VMWare) and container orchestration (Kubernetes), both on-premise and in cloud environments (public and private).
- Programming Skills: Basic programming knowledge is essential, as the role involves understanding, modifying, and creating benchmark kits for proof-of-concept studies.
- Scripting Languages: Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Shell Script, Python, or Go is highly desirable.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficient with IaC and configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in database solutions and related technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
