Life Enrichment Coordinator
Nestled in San Francisco's Excelsior neighborhood on a nine-acre campus, the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (SFCJL) is a center of excellence in providing a continuum of care. This includes the Frank Residences, offering luxurious assisted living and memory care services; the Jewish Home and Rehabilitation Center, featuring long-term skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation, and an acute psychiatric unit specialized in mental healthcare for older adults over age 55; and the Jewish Home and Senior Living Foundation.

POSITION SUMMARY
As a Life Enrichment Coordinator, you will plan, implement, and lead meaningful programs that enhance residents’ quality of life. Through group, individual, and self-directed activities, you will promote engagement, independence, emotional well-being, and social connection. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure a holistic, person-centered approach to care while maintaining required documentation and regulatory compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate group, one-on-one, and self-directed life enrichment activities.
- Provide opportunities for social interaction and relationship-building among residents.
- Create and maintain a positive, caring, and stimulating environment that supports resident well-being.
- Encourage and re-motivate residents to engage in physical, cognitive, and social activities.
- Tailor activities to meet diverse physical, emotional, cognitive, and cultural needs.
- Provide individualized engagement and support for residents who decline or are unable to attend group activities.
- Offer emotional support and companionship, particularly during times of stress or transition.
- Complete timely and accurate documentation, including Life Enrichment Initial Assessments, MDS documentation, progress notes, change-of-condition updates, attendance records, and other required activity records.
- Develop, implement, and maintain person-centered care plans in accordance with regulatory deadlines and standards.
- Collaborate with Nursing, Social Services, Dietary, Rehabilitation, Volunteers, and external case managers to ensure resident safety and coordinated care.
- Maintain and update activity calendars and bulletin boards daily with accurate and engaging information.
- Distribute resident mail, menus, activity schedules, and refreshments as appropriate.
- Supervise and support student interns and volunteers participating in activity programming.
- Communicate with residents’ family members regarding participation, engagement, and well-being.
JOB DETAILS
- Pay Rate: $25-$29 per hour
- Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
- Shift Schedule: Day | 9:00 AM-5:30 PM
- Days Off: Sunday & Monday
- Working Days: Tuesday through Saturday
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy, psychology, social work, healthcare, recreation administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with older adults in group or long-term care settings.
- Russian bilingual strongly preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and group facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and resourcefulness in program development.
- Sensitivity to diverse physical, emotional, cognitive, and cultural needs.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand, walk, and engage with residents for extended periods.
- Ability to assist with activity setup and light lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to push activity carts and transport materials throughout the facility.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
