What you’ll do
We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced production environment. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our manufacturing processes. This position requires a proactive approach to identify and implement improvements that will streamline operations, reduce costs, and increase product quality. The Manufacturing Engineer will work collaboratively with various departments, including production, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure that manufacturing processes align with the company’s strategic objectives. The successful candidate will also lead projects focused on process optimization, equipment reliability, and the integration of new technologies. As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, you will gather and analyze data to make informed decisions while applying engineering principles to resolve complex manufacturing issues. - Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvements and reduce waste
- Responsible for the support of installation of tools, equipment and/or gauges in assigned areas of the manufacturing plant.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues.
- Provide technical support for specific plant operations.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instruction, lessons learned, and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure that manufacturing has accurate and detailed information on specification to produce the part.
- Evaluate and recommend new equipment and technologies to enhance production capabilities.
- Supports install of new tooling, perform capabilities studies, GR&R, in accordance with project schedules and quality gates.
- Solve difficult and complex manufacturing issues on new programs as needed.
- Train and mentor production staff on new processes and equipment utilization.
- Conduct new machine runoff either in person or remotely, assuring equipment meets all process, performance, and safety requirements.
Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, SC. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- 5+ years of professional experience in automotive production, with expertise in achieving stable production processes and in-depth knowledge of Manufacturing operations.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in Manufacturing Engineering or similar role.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
- Strong technical skills in networking, hardware, and software systems.
- Ability to understand the concept of PLC logic and Robotic programming.
- In-dept knowledge of mechanical assembly and disassembly of complex stations and assemblies.
- Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six sigma principles
- Skilled in effectively communicating both verbally and in writing
- Well versed in MS Office

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $110,000-$130,000
Internal leveling code: IC9
