What you’ll do
As a Transportation Planner you play a crucial role in creating a stable and cost-efficient logistics supply chain for Scout Motors. You will focus on designing logistics structures and processes to ensure the seamless material flow for critical material from our suppliers to our plant.

- Inbound Logistics Planning and Optimization: Develop logistics concepts for inbound materials from our suppliers worldwide. Optimize existing concepts to enhance our efficiency and sustainability. Follow up on the implementation of measures and asses their effectiveness.
- Transportation Contract Management: Prepare, conduct, and implement logistics RFx activities. That includes writing and aligning the necessary documents like RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and SOWs. Clear and effective communication and collaboration with internal departments as well as involved 3PLs or 4PLs.
- Logistics Cost Management: Calculate logistics costs based on supplier location and transportation rates. Analyze and optimize processes to minimize costs.
- IT System setup: Represent the business unit and technical requirements to be implemented in the transportation management system to ensure a timely rollout of all necessary functionalities.
- Performance Metrics and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for inbound logistics processes. Create comprehensible reports and use them to derive optimization measures.
- Continuous Improvement: Implement strategies for continuous improvement to enhance efficiency and compliance across all processes.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, SC. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
What you’ll bring

- 5+ years of proven professional experience in structuring, analyzing, and developing a multimodal transportation network solution, preferably at a North American Automotive OEM
- Professional experience with IT systems for truck transport routing and scheduling as well as inventory management and reporting, preferably SAP transportation management
- Practical experience leading logistics RFx activities e.g., RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, for LTL, FTL, expedited, and small-parcel transportation as well as warehousing, and crossdocking services
- Professional experience with data analytics and visualization using BI tools like PowerBI is a plus
- Experience working with 3PLs, 4PLs, and dedicated/asset-based transportation and warehouse service providers as well as knowledge of U.S. DOT regulations and transportation industry is a plus
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and presentation skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal and external teams
- Ability to independently work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Creative, collaborative and open mindset and drive to think out of the box

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $90,000-$100,000
Internal leveling code: IC9
