About this Position:    

The Enterprise Data Engineering organization seeks a Technical Program Manager to work with customers, data teams, and technology owners to deliver enterprise analytics systems. Enterprise Data Engineering has a mission to provide corporate data and analytics services to the major business functions of Finance, HR, IT, Operations, Sales, and Marketing. The candidate will be joining the San Diego-based Data Engineering team working on implementing powerful analytic applications using tools such as Snowflake, Tableau, Domo, & Ab Initio.  

They will be expected to work closely with internal customers and developers to deliver large and complex solutions. They will also provide oversight of activities and results to leadership and drive value to the company.   

 Responsibilities: 

  • Requirements Gathering & Analysis: Collaborate with business customers, engineers, and architects to gather and analyze requirements. Translate these insights into actionable feature requirements. 
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with engineering, design, quality assurance, project management, and data delivery teams to ensure data requirements are developed, tested, and launched as planned. Maintain open communication between teams to identify dependencies for capacity planning and address potential obstacles early on. 
  • Roadmap Planning: Develop and maintain a detailed data lifecycle roadmap that outlines the development and release of data assets, enhancements, and tooling features, prioritizing projects based on business impact, customer feedback, and technical feasibility. 
  • Feature Prioritization: Balance teams’ needs with business goals and technical constraints, making data-driven decisions on which features to prioritize and how to improve impact. Monitor the status of key outcomes. Develop achievement tracking and documentation. 
  • Customer Communication: Clearly and regularly communicate goals, progress, and release plans to internal customers. Provide timely awareness of roadblocks, status, and performance. Solicit feedback for future improvements. 

Qualifications 

  • Over 10 years professional experience 
  • With 6-10 years of experience as a PM leading projects with varying complexity 
  • Formal Project Management Certification is desired but not required. 
  • Bachelors or master’s in computer science, engineering, or science  
  • Experience in software development, data engineering, or business intelligence fields is a bonus. 
  • Understanding of SDLC processes such as Agile, Waterfall, and similar development methodologies.  
  • Proven success as a senior-level Program Manager, showing a track record of delivering large, complex projects/programs under budget and on schedule. 
  • Strong communication, leadership, facilitation, mentoring, and personnel management skills, especially in a matrix organization. 
  • Ability to analyze business requirements and translate those into services or solutions and develop associated plans for delivery.  
  • Ability to express sophisticated technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with people at all levels. 
  • Empathy for the customer and understanding of customer service approaches. 
  • Ability to build teams and motivate individuals and groups. 
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate conflicts and build relationships in multi-functional and multicultural environments. 
  • Proactive problem-solving skills in sophisticated and ambiguous situations. 
  • Ability to work independently under pressure, optimally prioritize tasks and handle numerous projects in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Knowledge of data-related technologies Snowflake, SQL, Tableau, Domo, Ab Initio, PySpark, etc. 
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing fundamentals. 
  • Familiarity with programming languages and source code management. i.e. python & git 
  • Curiosity about gaming, digital entertainment, or consumer electronics is a plus. 
  • Japanese language skills can be advantageous.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$173,000 - $259,400 USD
