People Operations Intern (Summer of 2025)
Location: St. Petersburg/Tampa, FL (In-person 2-3 days per week)
About Us
Thunder is redefining People Operations to be more innovative, efficient, and employee-focused. Our team plays a key role in shaping the employee experience, and we’re looking for a People Operations Intern who’s eager to gain hands-on exposure to HR, compliance, payroll, benefits, and talent management.
This is a unique opportunity to work closely with company leaders, contribute to impactful projects that drive improved teammate experience, and even help us test AI-driven innovations in HR.
What You’ll Do
As our People Operations Intern, you’ll report to our People Operations Lead and collaborate with Thunder's Chief People Officer, Talent Leaders + Recruiting Team, Finance, IT, and the wider Ops Team, and Thunder Philippines Team (gaining exposure to international HR practices!)
Your work will touch many areas of HR + People Ops, including:
- AI + Innovation in HR – We’re testing new AI-driven People Ops tools, and you’ll have a chance to contribute ideas and implement efficiencies!
- HR Compliance + Policies – Assist in maintaining company policies and ensuring compliance with best practices.
- Payroll + Benefits Support – Work with HR + Finance teams to support payroll processes, benefits enrollment, and employee questions.
- Talent + Recruiting – Help with hiring, onboarding, and engagement initiatives to create a best-in-class employee experience.
- HR Systems + Data Management – Maintain accurate employee records and support HRIS updates.
Who We’re Looking For
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Organized + detail-oriented – You love problem-solving and bringing structure to chaos.
- Strong communicator – You can build relationships across teams and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Discreet + professional – You understand the importance of handling sensitive employee information.
- Tech-savvy + forward-thinking – You’re comfortable with HR systems, data tracking, and testing new tools.
