Job Summary:

The Director, Global Payroll will oversee the management and execution of global payroll operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll for employees across various regions. This role will require expertise in international payroll systems, local tax regulations, and cross-border compliance. The Director, Global Payroll will work closely with HR, finance, and other departments to ensure smooth payroll delivery and improve payroll processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the global payroll function across multiple countries, ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Oversee payroll processing for diverse employee groups (salaried, hourly, contractors) in all regions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (HR, finance, legal) and external vendors to ensure proper integration of payroll data, tax filings, benefits administration, and statutory deductions.
  • Stay up-to-date on international payroll and tax laws, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations in each country of operation.
  • Partner with HR and other relevant departments to drive improvements in payroll processes, systems, and technologies to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external payroll providers, ensuring alignment with business requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Review and approve payroll reports, tax filings, and other documents for accuracy.
  • Conduct regular audits and checks to identify potential payroll discrepancies and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Lead and mentor a team of payroll professionals, ensuring continuous training, development, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Provide strategic insights into global payroll practices, cost analysis, and forecasting for senior management.
  • Handle employee payroll inquiries and resolve complex issues related to payroll, benefits, and taxation.
  • Prepare and submit payroll-related reports for executive leadership, auditors, and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Manage year-end reporting for tax filings, including W-2s, 1099s, and other necessary documentation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in global payroll management, with a strong understanding of international payroll processes and regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll systems, tax compliance, and benefits administration in multiple countries.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and working with external payroll vendors and consultants.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with global HRIS/payroll systems and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of labor laws, tax regulations, and government reporting requirements in various regions.
  • Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or other relevant certifications.
  • Experience with large, multi-national companies or complex payroll operations.
  • Familiarity with ADP, Deel, HiBob or other payroll management software.
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives and automation of payroll functions.
