Facilities Coordinator

Twist Bioscience is developing a disruptive Synthetic DNA technology that will change the world, enabling widespread health and sustainability. Synthetic biologists will use our products to engineer how organisms produce cures to diseases, make everyday chemicals by using the atmosphere as the carbon source, enable plants to make their own fertilizers, and to create in-vivo diagnostics that alert us when we are sick, and many more applications. The Facilities Coordinator ensures facilities standards are maintained and meets company standards for organization, cleanliness, aesthetics and sustainable operations. The Facilities Coordinator executes day-to-day activities such as daily floor inspections, stocking of supplies, working with janitorial and other maintenance vendors, and performing daily set-up and breakdown of conference and training rooms used for events and meetings. Facilities Coordinator also maintains positive relationships with the property management group and service vendors, ensuring company activities adhere to building policy.

What You’ll Be Doing

● Provide support of lab operations (i.e. stocking consumables supplies, distributing laundry services, etc.)

● Coordinate work with outside vendors to complete requests as needed, and at the direction of manager

● Manage waste streams through-out the facility (lab waste, biohazardous waste and nonhazardous waste)

● Performs ongoing facilities maintenance inspections of public and common areas by conducting "walk-throughs" of site to ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations

● Model company safety policies and participates in Emergency Response Team efforts

● Participate in facility programs covering disaster preparedness and recovery

● Ensure that unauthorized individuals are not granted access to the buildings

● Ensure that employees are using proper access badges

● Alert Facilities, Building and Security staff of any disturbances or potentially dangerous situations

● May be trained on alarm systems and provide first level response

● Maintain professional appearance of building lobby, reception area, and food service area

● Perform set-ups and teardowns of multi-purpose, conference, and training rooms as directed by manager

● May manage company parking or parking permit system for the building lots

● Additional responsibilities, duties and projects as assigned by department head

● Follow regulatory and ISO 13485 requirements

 

What You’ll Bring to the Team

● 4+ years relevant facilities / operations experience

● High School diploma or equivalent

● Excellent oral and written skills and proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications is required

● Customer service oriented - pleasant, friendly, cheerful, energetic, courteous and professional demeanor

● Flexible and able to multi-task effectively

● Organized and able to prioritize assigned tasks

● Shows initiative and a willingness to learn

● Ability to self-manage and effectively manage workload

● Ability to lift 50 pounds Preferred Qualifications

● Experience with vendor management and the implementation of the corporate safety program

● Experience with Environmental Health & Safety programs

The base cash compensation for this California-based role is below. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for bonus, equity, and a generous benefits package. Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location and may vary from the amount listed above. Compensation may be different in other locations.
