Sr Digital Product Manager 

We are seeking a Senior Digital Product Manager with a strong background in life sciences—specifically synthetic biology, mRNA, MRD, MGF, and DNA libraries—to join our growing Digital & eCommerce team. This role is critical in shaping how scientific products and services are delivered through innovative, user-centric digital platforms. You will be the bridge between scientific experts and engineering teams, translating cutting-edge biological applications into actionable technical product requirements. Your work will drive digital experiences that support researchers and scientists across the globe in accessing and ordering highly specialized biological products online. You’ll lead all aspects of product development from ideation through discovery and launch, and be comfortable taking on many different tasks to implement and ship your product. This position reports directly to our Director of Digital Product Management.

Key Responsibilities

Product Leadership & Strategy

  • Own and drive the digital product roadmap for core life sciences offerings
  • Align digital product capabilities with business goals, user needs, and scientific advancements in SynBio, mRNA, MRD, MGF, and library technologies
  • Prioritize features and enhancements based on ROI, technical feasibility, and scientific value

Scientific Translation & Technical Communication

  • Act as the scientific liaison between commercial scientists, research teams, and software engineers
  • Translate complex biological concepts into clear, structured user stories and technical requirements
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to ensure scientific usability and accuracy

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner with stakeholders in R&D, engineering, marketing, sales, and customer support to bring digital products to market
  • Work closely with eCommerce and digital marketing teams to ensure seamless customer journeys and data integration
  • Facilitate sprint planning, backlog grooming, and sprint reviews in Agile/Scrum development cycles

Data & Development Insight

  • Use analytics, user feedback, and scientific performance data to inform continuous product improvement
  • Leverage your development knowledge to assess technical feasibility and participate in code review discussions where appropriate

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a degree in a life science discipline such as synthetic biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, or biochemistry
  • 5+ years of experience in product ownership or digital product management in a scientific or biotech environment
  • Demonstrated experience in translating scientific requirements into user-focused technical product development
  • Strong familiarity with eCommerce platforms, scientific order workflows, and digital product lifecycle
  • Experience working in Agile development environments with cross-functional software teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) 
  • Hands-on experience or academic background in mRNA therapeutics, synthetic biology workflows, MRD (Minimum Residual Disease), MGF (Multiplexed Gene Fragments), or DNA/RNA library generation
  • Software Development experience (e.g., frontend JavaScript/NodeJS/ReactJS, Python scripting, APIs, experience as a user and developer of cloud-based bioinformatics tools)
  • Experience with platforms such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Shopify Plus, or custom scientific eCommerce solutions
  • Passion for improving the accessibility and usability of scientific products through digital innovation

The base cash compensation for this California-based role is below. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for bonus, equity, and a generous benefits package. Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location and may vary from the amount listed above. Compensation may be different in other locations.

$155,310 - $180,001 USD
