Senior DevOps Engineer

Role overview:
Senior DevOps Engineer will be working in the Infrastructure team. You will be joining an established team of engineers working on a variety of projects as well as ensuring that the infrastructure remains highly available for our customers and ensuring that it is compliant to industry standards and maintains a high security standard.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain Vonage's Global Infrastructure ensuring high availability for our services as well as keeping a high security posture of the platform.
- Design and build Infrastructure and Services using IaC techniques like Terraform and Chef.
- Work with development teams and other platform teams to oversee code releases and ensuring that there is no risk to the stability of the platform.
- Attend change meetings and ensure the changes to production are understood, managing progress and risk.
- Engage in feature breakdown to ensure DevOps good practices and insights provided.
- Attend team ceremonies including standups, planning, retros (buddy rotate system).
- Follow best practice during implementation, using opportunity to refine (or write) runbooks and documentation.
- Engage in learning opportunities to share DevOps good practices, learnings and successes through show and tell or learning sessions.
- Be present and engage in incident resolution driving to restore customer service quickly.
- Post incident, contribute to post-mortem sessions to ensure the root cause is identified, and to take appropriate actions and close process or technology gaps.
- Be available for an on call rota.
- Identify efficiencies to streamline operations. Efficiencies may be delivered through cost savings or speed of delivery.
What you need:
- At least 4 years of experience working as DevOps Engineer.
- Solid understanding of AWS Cloud Architecture.
- Familiarity with the software, system and applications used across Vonage’s infrastructure, services and product development processes – including Windows, Linux, Chef, Terraform, and Docker.
- Experience working with Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Config Management, ELK stack, Grafana, OpsGenie, Ruby and Powershell.
- Familiarity with software development fundamentals and best practices.
- Familiarity with CI/CD as well as Jenkins and Github Actions.
- Awareness of DevOps and Agile principles and the ability to apply them.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code provisioning and configuration management.
- Monitoring and alerting experience.
- Ability to script to solve automation tasks.
- Willingness to work on on-call rota.
- A collaboration-by-default approach, both with your team members and with wider staff.
- A strong desire to learn, build and grow.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
- Ability to:
- Apply analytical skills to evaluate and interpret technical and system problems.
- Identify opportunities for process and procedure improvement to drive efficiency and improve customer service levels.
- Deal effectively with technical and non-technical constituencies.
- Identify technical problems and provide updates and ‘fixes’
